Camera not functioning anymore.

My problem is very similar to the thread mentioned here:

My camera app opens fine, shows live view fine,..

but when I click to shoot a photograph, the app freezes.

I get app not responding on pressing the home button; {force close | wait}

waiting does not help, after forcing it to close when i try to open camera app again, i get:

Camera error: cannot connect to the camera.

Also the problem is with auto focus selected, with focus at infinity, it shoots just fine.

The URL to the thread that ive mentioned above had everything similar to my situation except for the fact that it got soved on moving to the new leaked ROM, sadly it didnt help me. I am currently using GSF b7, and i have tried switching between CM and GSF and few nighties (with wipe each time) but this problem seems to be independent of the ROM, same problem everytime.

Did it work on Froyo ROM's?

I never had froyo.

UPDATE: I reinstalled my stock ROM and recovery and sent my phone to service center.

The guy there fiddeled with the softwares and reported that he had the camera running, but only for a small while.

Later he gave up and has agreed for a replacement.

So I'll be getting a brand new phone once again :)
