Just thought I would try to help others who have had a tough time getting Android up and running on their system. This is WINDOWS FRIENDLY. install.

Step 1: Install Mini Tools Partition Wizard from here, its a great program.

Step 2: Plug your SD card into your Windows computer so it shows up as a drive

Step 3: Open Mini Tools Partition Wizard and do the following after you've cleared the card off of valuable files.

Step 4: First format FAT32, ensure its set to Primary and not Logical. Make sure you size down the FAT32 format to your SD card size minus around 1.3gb for the next partitions. Don't just format the whole things FAT32.

Step 5: Format EXT4 partition that is also Primary. Make it around 1gb. A window will pop up letting you know that windows won't be able to read anything but the first FAT32, just hit "OK"

Step 6: Format Linux Swap with around 256mb, or 128mb if you're stuck for space.

Step 7: Press "Apply" at the top of the Mini Tools program. All the formating and partitioning are queued up until you press apply then they are performed. Wait for it to complete.

Step 8: Take the contents of the Froyo Android installer package at the beginning of this thread, extract it, and place the contents onto your FAT32 partition (the only one windows sees) [might not need this step]

Step 9: Eject the SD card from your windows machine, and put it into the back of your Omnia 2 when its off. Be gentle, the metal tray slides then pops up. Turn it on.

Step 10: Copy the extracted Froyo Android installer that you just put on your SD and put it on your My Storage portion of your phone. You can do this by plugging it into your computer and have activesync initialize allowing you to copy the files over, or by selecting USB Mass Storage option then plugging it into your computer.

Step 11: Find and open "Explorer" in your phone's tools

Step 12: Navigate to your SD card on your phone's Explorer, then goto the subfolder "o2beta" and run AndroidInstall.exe in there

Step 13: Be very patient, it takes awhile. Once its done it will tell you installation was a success, and your phone will soon restart on its own. If it doesn't tell you this, it didn't work. You'll have to read the crazy text.

Step 14: Once its restarted, find and open "Explorer" again, navigate to "My Storage" and run Haret.exe

Step 15: Be patient, first boot takes a very long time.

Anyways, I might have included some extra steps in there but its up and running, albeit extremely slowly. Hopefully this helps someone. My apologies for terrible writing, hopefully its clear enough.

2.UNLOCATED 1128 MB

THAN CONNECT YOUR SD WITH AN ADAPTER TO YOUR COMPUTER

THAN START COPY YOUR PARTITIONS FROM SD TO MY STORAGE

DONT FORGET FIRST COPY BIG PARTITION "OTHER " SECOND COPY SMALL PARTION

TO YOUY MY STORAGE FINALLY WILL BE LIKE THIS

Have You checked SDHC class 10? It's not faster than that...

According to installer - I will do it in my way, no partitioning schemes. Partition sizes are simply mathematically calculated.

This is great news Voyteckst, so your installer will automatically calculate

the partition sizes according to the size of My Storage.

Sandisk is a very good brand, but they don't do class 10 i don't think.

Do you know of a good make that does class 10.

One side issue, the battery never charges to 100%, it seems to stop

at around 95%.

Any ideas

By the way, I burnt a copy of UBUNTU onto a CD and run

the CD as a Demo. It was a nightmare, UBUNTU kept

crashing while I am in the middle of doing things, so you

have to reboot again, it takes about 20mins, and then later

on it looses the super user previliges so you have to boot

again. I don't think they want you to use it for any length

of time, ie commercially. It did the job in the end.

Commercially? Don't let anyone you having to pay for it!

Why not install it as dualboot? Once you get a feeling with commands, it makes life awfully simple :)

When the CD boots up, two options show:

Try UBUNTU Install UBUNTU

Do you think that running it from CD is making it unstable. It keeps

crashing, loses SU privileges.

If I install to Hard Drive to dual boot with windows, do you think

it will be more stable.

I downloaded this from their web site www.ubuntu.com

They also give instructions on how to burn it onto CD.

Running from CD is just terrible as I said before, at one

point it will be running brilliantly, web browsing, terminal

vi, root privileges, and a bit later it starts loosing some

functionality, no more web, vi, sudo etc, some functionality

will still be there.

Sorry, but this is android forum, not ubuntu. Please stop asking questions about linux and linux how to. Get learning linux instead.

BTW. Next time I'll ask moderators to remove such posts.

It charges to 100% everytime.

What is the minimum charging time approximately to reach 100%

when it reaches 95, 96, 97% it doesn' t go further even if I keep it

charging for a long time after.

Hey, devs.

I installed the new Beta 3, on an SD card, using the automatic installer.

And it was amazingly good. and very fast as well.

Only 2 problems I encountered so far:

- I couldn't see my sim cards contacts, and I forgot what was the solution for this huh.gif(import/export with the android option doesn't work)

- And with Wi-fi I can connect, but after a few minuits when I try to conncet to a network (wich I added myself) It says its not in range,

the only way to get conncetion back, is to forget the settings of that network and add it again. Any solutions for this?

If there are any solutions, thanks in advance and keep up the good work!

I also experience the exact same 2 problems.

For my contact problem I just sync with my google account to get everything back (it reads nothing from sim-card at all :( )

For WiFi it doesn't happen always. In the 10 times I activate WiFi this happens like 1-2 times. My solution to it is the same solution you use.

ok finally the manual install on page 94 works i think..

i did everything EXACTLY as it supposed to be:

make the partitions.

untar the ext4.tar.gz

copy the haret.exe etc to the sdcard partition

changed the things in voldfstab and did the commands with the fstab.

now it says when booting: Android on Omnia II loading...

how long does this supposed to take?

hope someone can reply asap:)

EDIT: its now already for 10 mins on the bootscreen... thats not normal i think XD?
