REPOST FOR ANYBODY WHO DOESNT LOOK BACK FURTHER THAN 1 PAGE

ok heres my tutorial for the V6SuperCharger memory/performance fix script, works great am well impressed

first, credit to zeppelinrox from XDA developers who made it, the original thread is here

Can be used with any cm7 ROM so they say

things you`ll need to do:

1. Make a backup just incase

2. Download the script HERE and copy to sdcard (yes its a .pdf file dont modify it, it works fine)

3. you`ll need Script Manager app either on Market or go on Google and search for "Script Manager ads_1.6.2.apk" first result mediafire, i cant post links for it , download it and copy to sdcard

how to install and use:

1. Install Script Manager with file manager on your phone, once installed goto "open" or goto to apps menu and select Script Manager

2. Press the "MENU" soft key, goto "more" then "advanced options" then select "config" tick the box "Browse as root" now press "back" soft key, allow SuperUser if asked.

3. Scroll down to "v6_SuperCharger_for_Android-update9_RC3.2.sh.pdf" file and select it, tick box "Run as root" then goto "run" at the top, the script should open, once its finished scrolling the text, tap the screen to bring up the keyboard and press "2" then press ENTER, now WAIT

4. Press "Y" then ENTER to allow intergration, when prompted press ENTER.

5.Next, you`ll see options 1-30, depending on how you use your phone:

  • Press "2" for Multi-tasking
  • Press "3" for Balanced
  • Press "4" for Aggressive

make your choice and press ENTER, best option is "2" for most people

6. When prompted press ENTER again

7.Next is to SuperClean and ReStart, this will clean Cache and lesson the chance of anything going wrong, press "Y" then ENTER, phone will reboot instantly....phone will take a minute or 2 to get back to desktop as new settings will be applied (only does this once, unless you change settings again).......if you get stuck on the boot screen take the battery out and replace and power on phone......done........dont need to do anything else.............

i`ve installed this a few times and had no problems at all with it......:D

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK :D

cyanogen is down at the moment

you can backup your apps/data with titanium backup (which is included in my roms) which is good for restoring data/apps in new roms or do a full backup of the whole rom with CWM...............it is recommended to do a full wipe, but you should be ok just to install over the top with new build so apps and data will still be present.........either way do a backup with CWM 1st

any feedback on the battery life in #257?

when i installed #257 i hadnt recharged my battery (been playing with new script) to early to say really, but over night there has very minimal drain (1%) looks very promising with the combination of the v6 script and the removal of PhoneWake.apk

I downloaded PhoneWake.apk from deadlink post (he answered to someone and attached apk) while ago on #252 ICS version. Impressions after a few days:

- doesn't work at all (red button is set to "Go To Sleep" from Spare Parts, maybe that is the problem),

- it eats battery (I have BetterBatteryStats from XDA forums and this one can be seen here and there even without any phone calls).

So, first thing to do after putting new ROM: Titanium Backup -> freeze PhoneWake and DSP (oh, this one is one bad sucker). Even with that my personal record with very light usage is about 35 hours and battery settings always show "Cell Standby" as 50%, so maybe it is problem with cellular network here in Serbia.

I also tried V6 scripts months ago after red on XDA all about Android memory manager (although I recall back than it was v3?). Back than I was using TigTex ROM and scripts really worked. After switching to these thread, I'm only having problems with them. Yesterday, I tried once again (with #256) and after 15 minutes complete phone was unusable, seemed like when you try to do something in Windows which is swapping its ass off in background: you manage to do something but with LOTS of patience. Don't know what many of you did to make them work? Never mind, I'll try #257 today without scripts (no PhoneWake and red button is working properly? Must try that :P ).

ya the PhoneWake.apk seems to keep the phone state awake even when asleep so that functions like wifi connection will still work and ending phone calls when screen is off (fixed now)........DSP Manager i`ve changed the version now so should`nt be that bad.....#257 is better and the script does work very well indeed.....one thing i will say is you dont need to use swap at all with the script..........swap alone drains your battery 10x faster.........use the guide on 1st post of my thread for the script, may help you :)

I don't use swap?!? You say that scripts are turning swap on without asking? Didn't check, they didn't do that before.

just to be clear about this.........IF you want to use the v6 supercharger script then there is NO real point of using swap, swap wastes your battery, using the script itself does NOT activate swap in anyway shape or form..........

is phonewake a kernel issue or a bad code? why is it surfacing all of a sudden? is it due to changes made in recent nightlies? what will happen if i remove phonewake.apk?

sorry for so many questions, but i still dont follow what needs to be done here.

combination of things, nightlies do change alot, initially i thought PhoneWake.apk was just to end a phone call when phone went to sleep during a call as end call function didnt seem to work at that point, but now with more info it seems the function of PhoneWake.apk is to keep phone services awake like WIFI connection (to keep connection even though screenlock/sleep) (which is bug/build issue) etc..........so this process seems to be draining the battery more than usual by keeping services running.....its been removed as of #257 .............best combination is DONT USE SWAP and try the script :)

P.S. its fine if you remove PhoneWake.apk

run bbs and the drain shows as suspend, to cut it even more, you'll need an app that will keep your phone awake all the time until you turn your phone off yourself. ironically screen timeout( something that's ment to save your battery) actually eats more battery than you just turning the screen off yourself. I'll post the name of an app that will let you do this:)

edit, download screen timeout toggle free on market and set to never:)
