I have a completely original orange San Fran. It has crashed. It will perform a flash on the SD card but reverts back to the little green dude without success. can I get a copy of the info on the SD card, the one I have is brand new, formatted for FAT 32, but no matter what I try the damned thing always goes back to stage 1!!! Is there a way of testing the internal ROM? Is it possible to restart without rooting? will it ever work again???

Specs: Orange San Francisco.

2.1 system.

New SD card (Micro).

S/N 322403290983.

Any answers would be welcome.

woah. go back. you need to tell us useful information for us to help you.

what did you do prior to it not working..... etc

It was given to me by a friend who used it as Orange intended. I have tried all the button combo's and flashed a gen 1 TPT to absolutely no avail. It was not modified in any way and my friend told me it just would not turn on one morning.

You could try the TFT method outlined here (it's the easiest method and probably would be most prudent to attempt in your situation).

http://android.modac...n2-tpt-upgrade/

It will automatically install the latest ClockworkMod and the desired ROM (either pick Cyanogen or GSF).

Also, I think that even if your phone is Gen2, you can still do the TPT method as described to get the appropriate things installed onto the mobile.

Follow the instructions and you should be fine (but just in case... make sure to do a full wipe on your phone after going into CWM - this is before you instruct cwm to install the new rom).

:-)

alternatively... you could use FastBoot method to put CWM onto the phone (for that, you first need to install ZTE Blade drivers onto your computer and appropriate Fastboot files so you can flash CWM).This method explains how to install ClockWorkMod using Fastboot:

http://www.aklp.gr/2...k-via-fastboot/

This is where you will find the ZTE Blade (orange San Francisco) drivers for Windows:

http://android.modac...rivers-and-adb/

This is where you will find ClockworkMod (the 4.0.0.1.5 version):

http://android.podtw...hp?device=blade

Be advised that this will likely kill any info you had on the phone, except for the contacts (only if you backed them up tonto a google account or exported them to the SIM).
