For pier11 and dr.flo I have started cm7

2.3.5 from u8500, a kernel

from pulse-x3, the first that I have

seen smoothness of animation

of emerging windows, what no

jerks and speed works, works all but

communication

are you saying it works smoother than our cm7.2?

if so, can you upload it to check?

It's fine that not everything work.

pier11 What there?

Not that fast, I'm at work.

I'll try to give it a go when have time, to see if it's really faster than our cm7.2

Guest dr.flo

do you mean this one?

http://huawei-u8500-rom-list.googlecode.com/files/CM7-Android%202.3.5%28Port%20v.1.5%29.zip

would be good if it really was faster but somehow I cannot imagine why it should be... it would mean that something in our device tree is misconfigured... ok well that's possible after all.

The other thing might be that that rom appears to be faster because RIL is not working. That frees up some RAM.

This may be helping (from the u8500 rom):

dalvik.vm.heapsize=32m
Not sure u8220 has such RAM luxury. In fact u8500 is Ascend class device - msm7225, not like X3 (msm7227) Also hardware acceleration is not turned on (due to lack of such) on egl.cfg @skykilla, please try to change in build.prop
dalvik.vm.heapsize=24m

and tell if rom is still as fast as you initially observed?

I'm currently booting that rom (link I posted) with boot.img from latest x3 port.

Will report on findings soon...

So far it really seems to boot with just boot.img exchanged. Good to know this is most likely because I based ramdisk of later x3 ports on our CM7... ;)

possibility

Has established 2.2 to write

here

Thanks,

when you have time, please test it with Fps2D available on Market.

29 fps out of the box

This rom is heavily customized, different theme, different transition animations, different icons, different launcher...

The first impression is that UI animations are indeed "smooth", but apart from the 29 fps Fps2D score I have no means of verifying this. I did not find the 16-bit transparency option in this roms cyanogenmod settings, so I can't judge if that one is on or off...

@skykilla

If you like this rom, try enabling RIL on it. Most likely you just need to replace the famous 15 RIL files + qmuxd (see stock froyo rom thread) as the boot.img you use is already setup for our RIL.

try

getprop persist.sys.use_16bpp_alpha

Guest dr.flo

It is possible more in detail and

the reference

See pier11's post there, all files under "RIL" section (the 1st block, not including green files)

try

getprop persist.sys.use_16bpp_alpha

is empty - property not set.

fps2d is giving at first time: done avg=29 stdev=14.05

second test: done avg=29 stdev=13.97

29 fps

thanks for tests.

This is what we observe on other roms. For example um840.
