had a look at the weight differences, and it seems g300 is heavier 140g by jiayu g3 121 grams. so it seems it actually light which is now tempting me to buy it, anyone confirm this?

just noticed the weight on the jiayui is without the battery so the total weight is more like 180grams.

Phone ordered and have spoke to them on chat, got tracking number day after, all depends if it turns up and all works, ordered a iPhone 5clone and a zte v955, I paid with PayPal which was funded by my credit card so I should have some come payment protection you would think, I asked on chat about the G4 they say they have in stock, mmm not sure about that

Problem is you can wait forever for the best value phone, if you want great battery life and a solid phone the Jiayu g3 takes a lot of beating. I've had mine for a month now, great phone!

another alternative from the umi x1 and G3...

in my opinion this beats both, its from the zopo factory like the other "HERO" phones so it should be high qaulity

as zopo get there IPS displays from LG

2800mAh battery

http://www.merimobil..._p/meri7358.htm £116

looks like i will now try and get two of these for my parents... been a total nightmare trying to get the umi x1 (just got my 4th refund, no stock)

hopefully with this been new they will be in stock

All the good ones come out in April, so no. I'm really keeping an eye on the $160 quad core phones :D

there are already some cheap quad core devices available now

Newman NM890 £ 129.95

http://www.fastcardt...0 Android phone

CAESAR H7500+ £ 134.72

http://www.fastcardt... -Android-phone

Jiayu G5 ??? £ 135.40 (not in stock)

http://www.fastcardtech.com/Jiayu-G5

or more here (mostly out of stock though)

I'm not so keen on the Jiayu G5. It's an iPhone clone, but with capacitive buttons and a 4.5 inch screen. It doesn't seem like the kind of thing Jiayu would do, maybe Goophone, but not Jiayu

The problem always is that the next great phone is "just around the corner". :D I kept waiting and waiting because phones just keep getting better and cheaper. Then my old HW U8220 (Pulse) broke, and I had to pull the trigger.

My "saga" with the Jiayu G2S is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2126293

I have to say that I really like the phone, other than the very significant "jump screen" problem. Unfortunately my phone is still sitting somewhere at Jiayu while I await them to send me a new one. But having used the Jiayu G2s for a few weeks, the HW G300 feels very sloooooooow. I can't imagine what a quadcore will feel like!

But I don't want to carry a "little tablet" in my pocket, so the 4.5+ inch screens are just too big for me to consider. Maybe 4.3, but only if they can keep that overall body length to 125mm or shorter. And I don't mind a bit thicker at all. Go ahead and make it thicker so it is a bit stronger, not as long, and can have a huge battery.

But I think you all should still wait. The next great phone is "just around the corner." :P

5inch displays seem to be the trend at the moment, most of the new quad core devices have them

4.7 on my nexus 4 is just right for me, not to big and not to small

5 inches is freaking HUGE. Of course everyone has different values/feelings on the subject, but I can't see carrying a 5" device around in my pocket. It's not like I wear tight jeans or anything like that (I'm far too old for tight jeans), but I'd be really concerned that I'd crack the screen as it bends over my leg one morning while I'm trying to tie my shoelaces.

The best I can hope for is that they continue to find ways to get the overall phone size reduced to barely bigger than the screen size. I really like the size of the G300. I'd like to see them put a 4.5" screen into that chassis. If you lay a ruler on it, you can see it is definitely possible. I don't doubt there is a trade-off in having to have a bit thicker unit, but I've never understood the obsession of having to make the phone yet another 0.25mm thinner. (Cf. the Jiayu G2S "One Glass Screen" as an example of how this didn't work out so well.)

BTW, if you do get a MTK chip based phone, maybe these posts will help you get started with rom flashing, particularly the steps to go through to get CWM Recovery installed. I struggled with it at first, so I tried to write it up for "dummies" after I finally got it working, (Yeah, I'm a bit stupid at times.) Of course the actual rom files will be different for every phone, but this just explains the process.

lol you think 5 inch is bad, huawei recently announced a 6.1inch phone...

i would love to see phones become bezel-less, like this mock up

The wife has been using her umix1 for a few weeks now and she has no complaints at all.

Rooted and custom rom installed - easy peasy.

There is a slight creaky feeling with the back cover being so slim but hopefully the tpu case thats on its way will resolve that.

The only other thing is that the camera flash is too strong...could take x-rays with it ,solution...dont use it.

Apart from that its a nice enough phone.

6.1 inch "phone". Reminds me of a few years back when I dropped in on a friend. He's Skyping using his MacBook. He's working the BBQ tongs with one hand and holding the latptop like a flip phone up to the side of his head with the other. I literally was LOL. :D

I completely agree with the bezel-less phone. Seems simple enough. Have a tiny slot at the top for the phone speaker, notification light and front camera, and just put everything behind the screen.
