1) USB Debug ON

Connect your phone to your computer and be sure that usb debug is on.

In Settings / Developer options set USB debugging to ON.

2) ADB and Fastboot

You need to have ADB working and Fastboot installed.

They are both installed with Android SDK that you can find here :

http://developer.and.../sdk/index.html

Download SDK tools only and uncompress it to your HDD.

Go in tools directory and run Android.

Do the updates and exit.

3) Install CWM

Before begin you need to download CWM thant you can find here :

http://ftpb.free.fr/...6.0.3.u9200.img

Thanks to Urmet77 for this version. (see his topic for more details)

Copy this file in the platform-tools directory of android sdk.

You need to download this file too :

http://ftpb.free.fr/...2_Flashable.zip

This file will install su + busybox and will root your phone.

Copy it at the root of your sd card as it, don't uncompress the zip.

Go in the directory platform-tools of the android-sdk

Connect you phone to the computer.

Unfortunatly the bootloader of the P1 is locked (hardware key doesn't work) but it's not a problem.

To reboot in bootloader mode just type in a terminal :

adb reboot bootloader

now we can install CWM just type :

fastboot flash recovery clockworkmod.v6.0.3.u9200.img

finish the installation by typing :

adb reboot recovery

Note to linux's user : use sudo ./fastboot and sudo ./adb

4) Install root

You are now in CWM

First thing and before doing anything go to the menu backup and restore and backup your phone.

(P.S only touchscreen works in this version of CWM, hardware keys don't work)

Go to the menu install zip from sdcard / choose zip from sdcard and select the file SU___Busybox_1.20.2_Flashable.zip

After few seconds the file is installed.

Reboot your phone and enjoy your phone is rooted :D

i have a couple of questions - 1. should my phone be connected to the computer from the beginning of this guide, or only from step 3? 2. should my sd card be set as default storage or should it be unmounted? 3. should i turn on fast boot in my phone? thanks.

also i'm lost on some parts, check what I have written in caps:

Go in the directory platform-tools of the android-sdk AND DO WHAT HERE?

Connect you phone to the computer. OK

Unfortunatly the bootloader of the P1 is locked (hardware key doesn't work) but it's not a problem.

To reboot in bootloader mode just type in a terminal : TYPE IT WHERE?

adb reboot bootloader

now we can install CWM just type :

fastboot flash recovery clockworkmod.v6.0.3.u9200.img

finish the installation by typing :

adb reboot recovery

Note to linux's user : use sudo ./fastboot and sudo ./adb

Hi ,

I used this procedure to root my P1 lte ( U9202l-1) new only one day . The copy of CWM was successful but after the command "adb reboot recovery" the phone bricked on Huawei logo .

I understand that the recovery is not suitable :( and should be re-imaged . The problem is that on this stage adb does not recognize the device ( all drivers already were installed and Win 7 recognized the device in each mode).

Do you have any idea how restore the phone back to the life ? I think it might be done by using lower-level software .

Thank you

Hey,

Got my P1 a few days ago and decided to look into flashing clockworkmod due to the fact I'm more comfortable having an android device that's rooted and what not.

Tried to follow your tutorial (I've done this plenty of times on my previous 3 devices so it looked straight forward) but unfortunately I got stuck on the <waiting for device> screen on adb after attempting to send the recovery img. Had to do a manual reboot to get the phone back to the normal screen and it's working fine so no damage done. Any idea what's going wrong?

Cheers

Hi guys ,

Just to confirm been doing a lot of research about rooting P1 and figure there's a lots of different build versions out there like mine is b102 . Mine question is  would this work on my version or I need to do something else in order to have a root . Don't really want screw up a brand new phone yet :) . Tried Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18 and phone got stuck on logo menage to odo factory reset and bring it back to life . I have a decent knowledge about rooting and flashing roms since my last phone was Ascend G300 . Just want to make sure before doing anything .

Thank for help .
