I think it is folks , no more GB ROM's or other JB ROM's being created (NOTHING) even no more updated releases were added .

Well i think it's time to plan for moving from this device :(. What you think is the best upgrade from the Skate right now :) ?

H3ROS is working on his new GB ROM, and Lalit is still around to my knowledge. And there's always Mohamed's CM10.1 builds.

I'm thinking of buying a GSM Galaxy Nexus when I have the money. Not sure if there's something better I should be looking out for.

H3ROS might take a while to release anything...he himself does not know when is he finishing........every two weeks there is a post in old thread.....so don't expect anything in near future....

PA is something which keeps upgrading but nothing new as of now.....

First: sorry for the automated translation.

Don't want to sound rude, but it seems as if we would like our device only for updating, to load a ROM after another ... I've been hooked, i admit it, but I am also "thanking" in some way this current calm, especially because, in my view, what we have is a lot more than what they have the majority of mobile users: Android 4.2.2 , and all other intermediate versions since 3.5 . In addition, different varieties: paranoid, RootBox, etc. , etc.

And frankly, my RootBox sounds great to me; i works really well, and the only thing that i would ask would be battery consumption of GB. Now, since 1 month ago, I'm committed to using the telephone, and less to UPDATE IT. I would like to take stop to thank C3C0, Tilal, H3ROS, Tillaz ... in the end, you always forget someone, and it would not be good, because there have been developers that have spent many hours in updates of the Skate, and its subsequent support and help to us, the users.

THANKS TO ALL, and enjoy the Skate : -) and if you can, buy another device, of course, but the Skate is still very well! Still i hope to be able to see a new RootBox thanks to C3C0, although I know it has changed your device :-) I hope you're happy with the new, C3C0!

Thanks for the nice words, friend :) Really appreciated.

I am still checking out the development of RB, PA, etc with one eye.

I was about to updated PJ2 this week but stopped the activity after I realised

that the new features (like HALO) have not yet been made available to public.

They are keeping the new features in their private repo.

Anyway, I gave some git/repo merging hints to _SPARL via PM so there's maybe

someone who's going to provide further updates (hopefully).

Eloimuns contacted me, too, but I have no further info about his activities.

Anyway, I am satisfied with the new device. Compared to Skate, it's like driving the space shuttle :D

And 5" IPS HD screen is just amazing.

I even got back to times where we smali hacked custom ROMs.

This means, what I said earlier that I was not interested in customizing stock roms and doing changes

by decompiling/compiling.... Actually, I was wrong :D

And here is my current activity :D

dam thats a good picture :P

yer the reason why I moved on is the same as you. Having a 4.7inch screen, 2GB ram and a quad core cpu makes all the difference. I love my 16GB Nexus 4.

The skate has been relegated to be my spare music player so back to stripped 4.1 with only music, internet and clock installed (literally apart from the necessary android stuff). Flies along like it used to in gingerbread :D

To anyone wondering on skate roms. You probably have another few months of a few occasional releases and redos of old roms. And maybe someone will work on KLP after it comes out next week but it is unlikely to have many devs working on it anymore so don't expect it. Just hope :)

I have loved this community over the past few years with my skate and old trusty blade however i'm very glad I upgraded to the N4. Its a whole different experience of android.

Next version of android.

I'm simplifying here but let's put it this way: if its 4.3 and codenamed JB then a port is very probable. If it is 5.0 then more doubt but still possible IMHO.

Would you be doing anywork either way for the skate mate? Or you working on a new device these days?

Even though the skate is not my current device I like to see its progression :D

It's pretty much guaranteed we'll see 4.3 at I/O at this point. No way have we gotten far enough for 5.0, though I do think they might move away from the Jelly Bean codename as it would be the third major revision with that name.

Brilliant news, the possible prospect of another PA update is always appreciated, but if it never came, iam still happy with PJ2 for the skate and feel blessed you and Lalit progressed development as far as you both currently did . :)

 ,just had a read of your xda w8 thread. you've well modded the w8 rom into submission :D. There's some nice references to Aliens and test monkeys been posted by yourself.. Glad to see you've taken some of mother Modaco to xda. its looking good :D. :)

I don't really get why people assume that I've abandonned the Skate. I'm going to be perfectly honest here - for anything higher than ICS, the current state is about as good as it will get. That includes stbaility, battery life and things working. It really will not get much better than it is now. And if that is the case what is for me to develop?

And in any case there are nightly builds of CM10.1 at http://jenkins.androidarmv6.org so I don't even need to update CM manually any more.

I've seen some very interesting developement on the Gingerbread ROM's (Some JB) with the folks over at HTC Mania

Maybe it's time to get out some of the ideas and features that their ROM's provide and trying to bake more GB Custom ROM's instead of porting JB ROM's (Like RootBox or Slim Bean).

It's just my opinion , hope you get the point of this .

Eh, to be honest, you can only do so much on Gingerbread. It gets boring after a while.

Plus, what kind of features do they add? Most that I've seen are basically just skins over CM or a stock ROM.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I'm really not interested in GB. Period.

Many of the ROM's at HTCMania are sourced from ROM's published here. They'll change the skins and add extra scripts, plus they often package warez into their ROM's.

When I work on modding a stock ROM I'll take the framework apart as well as every APK. I then look at what can I clean up to increase responsiveness, what values work best, what applications do I want to include and what features can I add. I will then work on the theme of the ROM, and that's not an easy thing to do when you want the whole ROM to have a consistent polished appearance. It takes time and a lot of testing as you want almost every third party application to work and look right too.

I stick with making Gingerbread mods because some people like a good looking and stable ROM, just like how others like to use the bleeding edge even if there's bugs and things that can never fully be fixed.

Afternoon Lalit:), speaking for myself only, I've never assumed anything, Ive just not taken for granted ,your's and C3C0 's free time and personal commitments, and been savvy enough not to myther for something, which at the end of the day, is something yourself and C3C0 share freely. As previously stated by myself, I already feel blessed by your's and C3C0 's work to get the os this far. Anything still forthcoming again, would be classed as a bonus.

As always Thank You. :)

That's why i don't like ICS or Jelly Bean ROM's , mainly because they are ports and they aren't stable and bug-free at all . They only bring problems and developers are only sticking to that type of ROM's

Meh , whatever this device shipped with Gingerbread and no official ICS update was made available since the dead times . Baking Custom ROM's for Gingerbread is worth than only porting ROM's. <<<< But Heey that's only my personal opinion , and like H3ROS sad people like what type of ROM's they want :) .

+1

Was literally about to say this.

I didn't mean to imply you should do any future work mate. I was more than happy when we got the radio and data working on ics ages ago :)

The skate has definitely had its prime time (though it obviously still fully usable as a day-to-day device)
