All these icons(Line 1/Line 2, VPS Message Waiting Indicator ,text message icon,divert symbols etc) are triggered by an inhabited field on the SIM, these fields are only inhabited if you have the service provisioned and/or active. :D Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You can also in settings>telephony (somewhere there) select your outgoing line as Line 2. So you will be making calls from that.. Prob. a different number.
