TyphoonNbfTool V2 Milestone

After a little work, I've managed to port my old TyphoonNbfTool to C++, and have added limited ROM editing support.

The latest stable binary is here:

http://www.spv-developers.com/content/TyphoonNBFTool.zip

The CVS for the sourcecode is here:

http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=129151

Recent source changes can be viewed here:

http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/nbft...TyphoonNbfTool/

Currently the software will open any NBF file, decode the header and section data, and allow header fields to be edited. This can be used to adapt ROMs designed for one Typhoon model to work on another, bypassing the "Vendor ID" check in the RUU tool.

Let me know your comments. If anyone wishes to be on the development team, let me know, and I'll give you commit access to the CVS.

I'm leaving on a 1-week holiday tomorrow, so probably not much will be done until the week after, but the next step is adding features for modifying the actual NBF data sections (splash, IPL, SPL, OS, GSM). This will hopefully enable developers to create entirely custom ROMS, picking and mixing files and features from the various ROMs which are out there.

Minor disclaimer: This tool is for developers only. Use it only if you know what you are doing. If you turn your phone into a £150 paperweight, don't go after me :D

Due to hosting issues, SPV-Deveolpers will be down for the next few days. For the time being, the nbf tool will be hosted HERE on MSMobileNews.com

Thanks nedge2k for hosting the mirror. I went away on holiday, and the RCD tripped in my house, taking down my server, and hence the SPV-Developers.com site.

It's all back up now. If anyone is interested in the source code, it's also availible.

I updated with imate rom, but I cant return to the original 4.1.1.4. The update tool says me 'only upgrade'.

Changing version number in the nbf file, the orange rom apeart to pass to the phone, but when it finish, the phone still with the rom imate unchanged.

Is there more header data?

I'm impressed!

Can this program be used to UNLOCK the BOOTLOADER?
