  • If you've been following the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge, you may have read that adoptable storage, a Marshmallow feature that lets you use the microSD card just like internal storage, is missing. The S7s do include a feature where you can move apps to SD card, but it's not quite the same. The good news? You can enable the feature using ADB and it seems to work great, including in hybrid ('mixed') mode.

If you are fortunate to not be tied to a contract with your phone provider (and really, nowadays I would recommend everyone extracts themselves from device related phone contracts), then there are some really cracking deals around at the moment. You can get a really quite respectable offer from only £5! Read on to learn more.

For some reason, Vodafone seem to want to pick a fight with Three. In a bundle 'exclusive to Three customers' (although there doesn't seem to be any validation of this), they are offering 20GB of 4G data (with unlimited data for the first 2 months), unlimited calls, unlimited texts, Euro Traveller Plus and one of their media services (Spotify, NowTV Entertainment, Sky Sports Mobile TV or Netflix), all for £20 a month on a 12 month SIM only contract. There might be some cashback on offer too!

The more we want our devices to do, the more the batteries take a battering (pun-ish intended). It makes sense, imagine a 3000mAh battery in a device 3 or 4 years ago... battery life would likely have been measured in weeks rather than days. 2015 flagships however often struggled to see a full day of use because of a combination of factors - svelte bodies, power hungry chips and lacklustre power optimisations. It doesn't have to be this way however and one company in particularly is showing us the way forward... Xiaomi!

The Honor 5X UK pricing has finally been revealed - Honor's attack on the mid-range market (or is it the low end market? It's hard to tell with the Honor 7 being such good value too!) has a RRP of £189.99, but will currently set you back just £169.99 and you'll also get a £10 voucher for a future vMall purchase too. The handset is available in silver (with a white front) and grey (with a black front) now, with an all-gold version shipping next week. We have the gold version in the MoDaCo offices now, so we're ready to take your questions!

Do you have trouble getting to sleep because you mess around on your phone right up to the minute you go to sleep? If so, that may be due to over exposure to blue light from your device. "The cause is the photoreceptor in your eyes, called Melanopsin. This receptor is sensitive to a narrow band of blue light in the 460-480nm range which may suppress Melatonin production - a hormone responsible for your healthy sleep-wake cycles. In experimental scientific studies it has been shown an average person reading on a tablet or smart phone for a couple of hours before bed time may find their sleep delayed by about an hour."

Three UK have posted a Honor 5X preview video online, confirming they are to range the device both on contract and on prepay, following on from the success of the Honor 7 on the network. Due to be released by Honor directly on Vmall on 4th February, the device brings high end features such as metal construction and a fingerprint reader to the mid-range. It also marks a departure from other Honor devices by utilising a Snapdragon 615 processor instead of the more commonly used Kirin CPUs.
