My Androids make such great companions because they do what I expect them to, they deliver my news, my contacts, my bookmarks and my apps to me in a manner I decided upon. But would they be as helpful, intuitive or relevant to you? Almost certainly not.
This isn't perhaps a big deal with a phone that lives in your pocket, but tablets are more of a social device - they'll get passed around and used by any number of friends and family, but using one to its fullest without changing account details to keep private information hidden, and sifting through apps you didn't install is a palaver.
This is where SwitchMe Login Manager steps in to save the day - or at least take some of the hassle out of it. SwitchMe allows you to create multiple profiles on your Android device (ideally a tablet with large internal memory, the developers say) meaning you can boot into a fresh installation of Android, or into a profile that's already populated with a separate set of apps and data.
More after the break...
Pretty handy if, as I do, you share a tablet with your partner, frequently find it being "borrowed", or just want a different look and set up for home and work.
The developers also suggest some other jolly good reasons to install SwitchMe: Gamers can install their multiple versions of an MMO to play different characters, and developers can use clean profiles as a sandbox for testing.
For some, however, there are drawbacks: your device must be rooted, and Apps2SD and similar is not supported. As with most tools that involve root access, a nandroid backup is always recommended before getting stuck in.
