Would you give up your lockscreen space to ads for a price?

Would you give up your lockscreen space to ads for a price? Amazon is hoping you would, as they look to expand their popular Kindle subsidy scheme to include their Android based Kindle Fire tablet.

AdAge is reporting that Amazon is currently trying to sell space on the Fire for a price upwards of $600,000. It's not clear whether the deal is likely to apply to the existing tablet or a future Amazon product offering.

Lockscreen based advertising allows Amazon to offer a significant subsidy on their Kindle devices in the US. A base model Kindle will set you back $109 without 'offers' or $79 with, the subsidy rising to $40 on a Kindle Touch or Touch 3G.

Personally, I think if it's done right, I would definitely be cool with this... how about you?

I would welcome this only if a substantial reduction in unit costs and the advertising would also need to be non intrusive.

I await to see how this is implemented

this is going to get dicked by the custom rom community.

but even if i couldn't remove it. aslong as I still have the date/time and missed calls/messages on it i don't really care.

tho i hope battery life doesn't get canned by it constantly pulling ads while it should be sleeping.

Hell no. I would rather pay the proper price to be ad free. I have downloaded ad and air push blockers. An app is either free or you pay for it. Imposing annoying ads on your customer is just plain rude.

I hate ads throughtout. I even told the local postal service that I dont want paper ads and I go throught active steps to both block ads on my phones etc.
