  • Do you have trouble getting to sleep because you mess around on your phone right up to the minute you go to sleep? If so, that may be due to over exposure to blue light from your device. "The cause is the photoreceptor in your eyes, called Melanopsin. This receptor is sensitive to a narrow band of blue light in the 460-480nm range which may suppress Melatonin production - a hormone responsible for your healthy sleep-wake cycles. In experimental scientific studies it has been shown an average person reading on a tablet or smart phone for a couple of hours before bed time may find their sleep delayed by about an hour."

Three UK have posted a Honor 5X preview video online, confirming they are to range the device both on contract and on prepay, following on from the success of the Honor 7 on the network. Due to be released by Honor directly on Vmall on 4th February, the device brings high end features such as metal construction and a fingerprint reader to the mid-range. It also marks a departure from other Honor devices by utilising a Snapdragon 615 processor instead of the more commonly used Kirin CPUs.

Gaming smash hit 'Punch Club' is finally available for Android, following its release on iOS and Steam. "Your father was brutally murdered before your eyes. Now you must train hard, eat chicken and punch dudes in the face to earn your place in the Punch Club ranks, and discover who ended your father's life."

The OnePlus X is now available to buy without requiring an invite. Nearly 2 years on from the original launch of the OnePlus One, the X goes invite-free quicker than either the One of the Two did. Is this a sign of OnePlus better managing supply and demand, or a waning interest in the product? Who knows, but if you want a X (and it's a great phone), it's good news.

Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0 is pretty awesome for fast charging your device in these modern times, where battery life is at something of a premium. What's even better is how devices such as the Galaxy S6 and Honor 7 support the standard too, despite not packing Qualcomm processors. The price of compatible chargers has been falling fast and you can now pick up a single port charger for under £8. Bargain!

Respected font of travel knowledge 'Lonely Planet' has launched a range of new City Guides for Android, downloadable for free from the Play Store. Designed for offline use to save your roaming charges and curated by writers who live and breathe your city destination, the guides cover over 35 cities around the world with more to follow soon.

Asus Zenfone variants seem to be coming thick and fast... and now here's another one - the snappily named, and rather good looking 'ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition'. Featuring 'Drift Silver' or 'Carbon Night' finishes and gorgeous red accents, the new device looks the part and as well as offering 128GB onboard storage plus microSD expansion, it also has a new Intel Z3590 processor. But there's a problem.

Amazon Underground is a great idea. Free paid apps with free IAPs and the developer earning money for the time a user spends on the app. Everyone's a winner, right (except possibly Amazon)? It's a nice theory (although it skews towards games which are most 'sticky'), but in reality the Underground app list is a sea of low quality apps, punctuated only occasionally by what anyone would consider a 'premium' app. 'Facetune' is one such app, which appeared in the store this week.
