  1. Thanks for your comprehensive reply, managed to find a sim free one, so hassle averted! :P
  2. Hi, I'm looking at getting a Nokia N80 (probably off eBay) and was looking for other peoples experiences of getting unlock codes off their customer services department. Will they give out codes to people who aren't on their network?? Many thanks in advance, Steve
  3. Went to use my XDA Exec this morning and it had updated the time to 'Daylight Saving Time' with the obligatory dialog box to tell me. So it can't be a WM5 thing then.

  5. You'll need Tom Tom Navigator rather than mobile for pocket pc devices mate.
  6. As regards the speed issue, having used TomTom on both an XDA2s and the Exec, the map updates quicker on the Exec when you are moving, plus it plans routes quicker too!
  7. Press and hold both softkeys. Keep them pressed, and at the same time, use the stylus to press the reset button on the back of the device. Press either 0 to hard reset or X to cancel the request. Hope this helps, its as described in the XDA Exec manual, but I'd expect it to be the same.
  8. I believe 3 allow limited access to some web sites, but not all. As for settings I guess you'd have to contact them for those. I have seen some people using 3 sim cards in a Universal, but unsure of what functionality they had. Sorry I couldn't be any more help. Steve
  9. Have just been looking at the msmobiles.com site and found an interesting topic on enabling 802.11g wifi on a Universal (they used an M5000, but I guess it should work on all variants) Haven't had chance to try it as my Exec doesn't arrive until tomorrow (boo!) Let me know if any of you try it and have any luck. Heres the link to the article, all credit goes to msmobiles.com http://msmobiles.com/news.php/4853.html Looking at it further it looks as though it just allows a Universal to 'see' and access a 802.11g network at 'b' speeds. Still kinda useful though.
  10. Thanks for your opinions guys, I've decided to go the Orange route purely for coverage. Let you know if I have any problems! Change of plan, gone for the XDA Exec, it was substantially cheaper, although gonna have to be careful with data usage methinks!!
  11. I'm looking to replace my XDA2s with some form of the HTC Universal. My main reason for changing is the 3G element, which Orange provides coverage for where I live, and O2 does not. One thing that puts me off the XDA is O2's insistance on putting the godawful O2 Active software on their phones. Do Orange force something equally inept on you? Other than that, its just pricing, which I know is dependant on the contract you take out. Any one have any preferences to handsets?? Thanks in advance for any advice. Steve
  12. i)SteveG02 ii)O2 UK iii)6 months iv)not happened since I updated the ROM (various different ones!) v)Not reported it vi)see above This seems to be an Orange centered problem?? (judging by the posts anyway)
  13. Orange, Tesco Mobile (which runs on O2) and other mobile networks allow GPRS browsing on pay as you go, so I'm at a loss as to why O2 don't allow it? Does your XDA connect to the O2 Active portal at all? If it does then it should be using a GPRS connection? (I may be wrong if anyone wants to correct me) (I assume you have the most up to date O2 ROM on the device??)
  14. Tesco supply themselves with fuel, so she told u they sent themselves a load of 1's, bless her :o
