  1. Being able to target WM5 smartphone is critical. Can someone with the standard edition confirm this is supported in VS2005 STANDARD? If not, does that mean we have to get Pro for this?
  2. Yes. Tools for Windows CE. What is that? All of the descriptions I see for V Pro list something about mobile development. Trying to understand what exactly that is.
  3. I have been trying to figure out if I need the Pro or standard version of Visual Studio 2005 to start making apps for WM5. Does the Standard edition and SDK include everything, or will I find out later that there is some one crucial little thing that is only included in the Professional edition? I could care less about SQL database client/server programming. ???
  4. uhmm, on my blackjack the full keyboard is not working, only the number buttons.
  5. I sure hope they thought this through. In WM5 when you pull up the contacts you are supposed to be able to start hitting the letters of the name you want to find and it zeros in to the name. On most phones, you use the numpad to do this, where 1="abc", etc. However, on the Blackjack we have a complete keyboard, not to mention that the number keys do not have the 3 letters printed on them to figure out which number represents what 3-4 letters. Suffice it to say that the WM5 contacts app appears to only respond to the number keys and since I can't tell which number is what letter..its basically useless. is there a setting somewhere in WM5 to tell it to use the full alphanumeric keys instead of numpad?
  6. What I am finding thus far is that WMP will stop playing when a phone call comes in and after the call is over it re-continues playing. I'm not sure yet whether it just mutes itself, or the audio is redirected from it, or if it actually pauses. However, I have found every other audio app I tried does NOT pause or mute, but rather keeps playing music, even to the point that the caller on the other end can hear it and it messes up the whole phone call. I have tried Resco Radio and TCPMP so far. Both exhibitied this behavior. I have asked on the Resco forum about this and they only said that every phone is different (a cop out answer if you ask me). I would really like to know why WMP is able to pause and the others are not. Is WMP somehow considered a default media application in WM5 that WM5 knows to turn off when a call comes in perhaps? Another question is how I can change IE so that links to MP3's and streaming audio URL's will launch a different player instead of WMP. Perhaps the configuration of this will make it so that TCPMP will launch itself AND also will be muted when calls come in? Just hazarding a guess. I purchased PocketStreamer Deluxe, and it works fine to launch WMP and mutes when calls come in. The only down sides of this app are that (A) it does not support many audio codecs including the all too important AAC and (;) PocketStreamer has a very limited set of radio stations, none of the coolest ones found on Itunes or in Resco, and its very cumbersome to add new ones. But at least this setup does mute the playback when a call comes in.
  7. I already know there are several alternative media players which handle AAC. However, what I can't figure out how to do is configure my WM5 smartphone(Blackjack) so that streaming links in IE will launch the other player instead of WMP. How can I make a different media player the default media player? I bought pocketstreamer, which is a bit dissappointing on a number of fronts, but one thing is it launches Media Player, which does not support AAC and many of my favorite streams are AAC. The other thing is that WMP appears to be the only media player that will mute itself when a call comes in. So another question is, does anyone know if there is any possible way to play AAC through WMP?
  8. Have you been able to configure it to stop playing when a call comes in?
  9. Any suggestions for which internet radio tuner to get and use on WM5 (Blackjack)?? I have tried Resco's, but it does not mute the radio when calls come in. Looking for something similar that can tune into AAC, MP3, streams, etc..and will mute when calls come in.
  10. I am looking for a better way to manage memory on my Cingular 2125 (WM5). Anyone know if any programs that will either (A) search for temp files and other junk that can easily be cleaned off the phone to clean up memory, and/or (cool.gif, provide a virtual memory system and/or © provide a way to install apps on my storage card instead of the small area on the phone for this. ?? thanks

  13. Yes I did copy it to the storage card and try to run it from there.
  14. Well I have 3MB free on the device. Isn't that plenty of space for this "tiny bit"?? it says it needs 5MB to install it. Seems that you need to have this much space on the device at the time you install it, even if you end up keeping it on the storage card. (shrug). I dunno. I've tried a lot of times to install this with 3-4MB of free space on my device and 800MB free on the storage card. Always the same message about device running low on memory.
  15. Another question. I'm trying to install the CF2 you mentioned. I have 800MB free on my storage card. When I try to run the cab installer, it prompts me for where to install it. I select storage card, and it begins to work, but when it gets 5/6 done it says I'm out of space and fails. Are you sure this can be installed on the storage card? What am I missing?
