  1. Have you given up on this or had luck since? Out of interest I'm having probs with wifi file sharing and activesync but can access the web. Would love to hear how you got file sharing set up. Cheers, Sam
  2. Did you attempt to get this working again? I tried to download samba and see what was going on with that but couldn't work out what i should be doing will the numerous files i downloaded about it. If you have had any luck it would be great to hear how you managed to progress. Sam
  3. Hi fraser thanks for the help, THe port 137 is not open (port 139 is open though) so no prob with vxutil or the connection. How do i go about allowing this? I have tried allowing in windows firewall and am using sygate personal and have added the mac address with an allow all advanced rule. Neither this nor allowing all traffic seems to open the port. BTW you have gone over my head with the SMB and whether a share is on a particular network? I thought sharing the file would be on all adapters - as i said I am no pro. Any further help is much appreciated, Sam
  4. No ideas? I can access the shares using my router and a laptop so i assume it's the ppc config not xp. I can see my computer using resco file explorer but get the same error message: you do not have permission to access the network or network is unavailable. Anyone who has this working i'd really appreciate some help.
  5. Hi all, I have just got wifi on my desktop set up and have configured my M1500 to connect to the internet using an ad-hoc connection with the PC (I am using XP pro). I want to access shared folders from my PPC but can't seem to get it working at all. I think it may be a problem with my desktop set up as I have seen in other posts that people have this working. I am trying to access the folders using the file explorer but can't acces my computer using the IP or computer name. ("the network path was not found - or you do not have permission to access the network") Have tried disabling all firewalls but didn't solve the problem. Should i be able to see my PPC from network connections on XP anywhere? I have tried to change settings from control panel to see if anything is not set up correctly on my desktop but I'm not exactly a pro at this sort of thing. Any help is very much appreciated.
  6. I'm looking at getting an SD or MMC card from emartbuy.com - they have a SD that is 150X (read 22.5 MB/s and write at 15 MB/s) and the mmc is 200X (read 30MB/s and write 12.5MB/s) Which card format (if either) works better with the alpine and is it better to go for the higher read speed of write speed? Sam
  7. try emartbuy.com also they have some really good prices on all SD and miniSD cards
  8. I believe it is due to the fact that it can be clocked at a lower speed to save battery power from the settings menu
  9. Hi all, I have found the forums here really informative but I am stil undecided about which phone to go for. I just ordered the M1500 which will arrive on friday on select 500 £25 with 1000txt, i snapped the guy's hand off for a free upgrade knowing it is usally minimum £50 upgrade from the online upgrades feature. I didn't think at the time to ask about the M5000 thinking it would be about £100 but seeing the other threads i think i could have had it for far less or free. (I know that i am what they class as band 5, which is the top band for upgrades) With all the problems i have read about the m5000 i'm not sure what to do... a) Should i go for the M5000 instead? ;) does anyone know how much it costs to return an upgrade? Incidently i will probably not be using it primarily as a phone and will keep my C500 or get a C550 also to ring/txt from. Decisions, decisions...
