  1. Hi ElDiabo77. I like the idea, but then after every flash of a new ROM, I would have to rely on PIM Backup working properly. In my experience, sometimes it doesn't. Good idea though, I may try it.... Thanks. Mattster.
  2. (REPOSTED: Still looking for an answer....) Stopping sim contacts from appearing in the spb contact page Does anyone know if there is an option or method yet of stopping sim contacts from appearing in the spb contact page? I know duplicate names was a problem with earlier spb mobile versions, and I can't remember if anyone found a successful way of getting rid of them? I imagine most people have a copy of contacts on device and sd card, no? Mattster.
  3. Thanks Darren. I haven't found a way yet either... none of the fixes that work for the device contacts seem to work for spb contacts. Does Anyone know how to stop sim contacts from appearing in the spb contact page? Does anyone know if there is an option or method yet of stopping sim contacts from appearing in the spb contact page? Windows Mobile 6.1

Hi all. I Just bought an Orange spv m700. Original owner has debranded it and installed WM 6.1 Device name: HTC_P3600i Model NO: TRIN100 Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional ROM version 3.03.751.5 ROM Date: 04/01/08 Radio Version: 1.16.00.00 Protocol Version: 32.53.7018.01H I can't find any reviews online from user using WM 6.1 To tell you the truth I see little difference from WM5! (and I prefer the blue spec of WM5 to the green WM6.1) Can anyone help dish the good and the bad? :D

    Windows Mobile 6.1

I've sorted it, incase anyone with the same problem reads this post: The problem was the old radio ROM flashed when unlocking the phone. I managed to get in touch with the original owner and he sent me a link to an an .exe file which I downloaded, ran whilst activesynced to my phone, and voila! I now have radio ROM 1.50.08.11. Tomtom 6.03 now successfully works using settings "other NMEA GPS receiver" with "GPS baud rate 115200" and "GPS in Com9"! Hope this helps others, Matt :D

  8. Can someone please tell me the settings for Tomtom 6 on HTC P3600 (Trinity / SPV M700) to successfully get the internal GPS device found... I've read that in Tomtom settings I have to select "NMEA GPC receiver" and then Com 9, but this hasn't worked. Then I read that with Tomtom 6 you choose "Built In GPS Receiver".... I'm confused and desperate as I find load of posts from people with the same problem, but no one with a solution that sems to work!!! The original owner of the phone (spv m700) debranded it and installed WM 6.1: Device name: HTC_P3600i Model NO: TRIN100 Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional ROM version 3.03.751.5 ROM Date: 04/01/08 Radio Version: 1.16.00.00 Protocol Version: 32.53.7018.01H Tomtom 6 is installed, but the GPS receiver is not being detected. I have done what the forums say, i.e. selected "NMEA GPC receiver", get a screen with: COM3: GPS in COM9 COM7: RIL on COM6: S2410 IRDA I have clicked on the first option (COM 9 is recommended), but still no GPS device found, indoors or out, after days of trying Help anyone.... please.......?! :D

    Windows Mobile 6.1

Hi Fox, Thanks for replying. I've read that upgrading ROM's can knock out the GPS receiver? which is my main concern at the moment: The advice online is to select "NMEA GPC receiver" and COM9 (from the screen shown below) COM3: GPS in COM9 COM7: RIL on COM6: S2410 IRDA However, I still get no GPS signal, indoors or out. Don't know what to do! Any ideas? :D
  10. Hi all. Help and advice needed please: I have just bought an spv m700 (with Windows Mobile 6.1) and need to transfer all my stuff from my spv m600 (with Windows Mobile 5.0): 1. On my m600, all my contacts are stored on the phone (not the sim). What's the best way to transfer them all to my m700? 2. Does all the great SPB software on my m600 need to be downloaded again to the m700 or are there CAB files somewhere which I can save to my laptop then transfer to my m700? (I presume the different WM edition makes no difference?) 3. I imagine the old owner flashed WM6.1 onto this m700. Is there anything I should know about this version (as I am only used to WM5) Any other advice you may have on how to best use my new spv m700 will me much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Matt. :D

    SPV M700 Bass Fix

Hi. Any update on this? I have WM 6.1 on my spv m700. Is the bass fix recommended?
  12. Hi all. I've heard that when you use satnav on the spv m700 the volume is a bit low. This can apparently be solved by buying a suitable Powered Speaker Cradle Kit. Does anyone have any recommended models that are made for the spv m700? Thanks, Matt. :D ALSO: What screen protector do you recommend I buy for the m700?
  13. Subject: Which is better: an spv m700 or an orbit xda? Also.... Does anybody know if Tomtom 6 runs better than Copilot 6 on the spv m700, or vica versa? Am I better off going with a registered copy of Copilot (which i have) or a copy of Tomtom. Apparently with a copy you can't update it online? Thanks, Matt.
  14. This is a great thread. So much useful info I'm jotting down! One question: Which is better: an spv m700 or an orbit xda? I've had an spv m600 for a year, love it to bits. I now need satnav, so I'm tempted to get an spv m700, but a few people have told me that the orbit xda is the better performing of the two (even though it has a smaller processor). Anybody got any suggestions, recommendations, experiences, comparisons? Thanks in advance, Matt. :D
  15. Everyone seems to agree that WM6 is faster, but I'm worried about conflicts I'm reading regarding software that was originally intended for use with WM5. E.g Tomtom 6. Hopefully we'll get more responses soon and be able to way up the pros and cons.
  16. Sorry, I couldn't decide where it should best fit. Delete this one if you like.
  17. Hi all - advice needed! I've just bought an XDA ORBIT. It runs on Windows Mobile 5 and has TOMTOM 6 installed. *** DO I RISK UPGRADING TO WINDOWS 6.0 OR NOT? *** I seems to read mixed messages out there. I've heard TomTom6 runs better on Windows 5? I also have copilot 6.0 discs which I could use instead. Anyone have a preference between Tomtom6 and Copilot 6 on the xda orbit? Thanks in advance, Matt. :D
  18. Thanks Confucious. If no one contradicts your advice today with a tale of their orbit blowing up after a week of Mobile 6, I should be fine now! The phone is off ebay, should be with me by tuesday, I doubt it will come with original tomtom discs, but I do have an original unregistered copilot 6 ready to install, so I may use that instead. Thanks again for the rapid reply!

  21. OK. I imagine some solutions to common problems with the SPV M600 are scattered over the site, but I thought maybe a pooling of personal experience may be nice. I love the SPV M600 to bits, but as with any phone it can play up. And it's such a great feeling when I manage to find a solution to something that's annoyed me consistently for a week. Let's start with.... SOLVING THE 10 SECOND BACKLIGHT PROBLEM After a hard restore and then a backup, no matter what you select for Backlight Timeout, before you know it it's gone back to 10 seconds! Drives you crazy. I've searched and searched but the only satisfactory solution I have found is as follows: 1. Turn off the backlight timeout function completely! 2. Just use the Power Setting: "Turn Off Device If Not Used For 1 minute" There you go. Hope that helps someone. Anyone else got any solutions that changed their SPV M600 lives in such a big way?

SPV M600 - TOP PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS!

SCREEN FREEZES ON BOOTING UP! HARD RESET WON'T WORK! If you're like me, you love downloading software onto your spv m600. I particularly love anything from http://www.spbclub.com/ and have tried most of them if anyone needs a recommendation. BUT! As a result, the phone can freeze from time to time when booting up. 1. Get a backup program installed onto your memory card. I recommend Spb Backup. It's $19.95, there may be better or cheaper out there, but it IS vital to have one and to create regular backups on your memory card, especially after you've downloaded something you like and tested it for a while to check it works ok. It means that whenever something goes wrong, you can perform a hard reset of your phone, and then a backup to restore it to the state it was in before whatever you did caused it to go wrong. 2. A Hard Reset will restore the phone to factory settings. It means you will lose everything you have done since obtaining the phone for the first time. BUT! If you have a backup saved, there is no need to worry. You can get it all back. 3. To achieve a successful Hard Reset, in my experience you need CONNECT YOUR PHONE TO THE MAINS CHARGER. Without it, doesn't seem to work. Once connected, press at the same time: - the camera button on the left - the communication button (under the volume slide on the left) - the power button (apparently this isn't necessary but it saved me a few times by holding it too!) - stick the end of the stylus in the soft RESET hole on the bottom (to the left of the mains charger lead) All four of the above need to be performed at the same time. After 5 seconds, a message will appear: "Press the SEND button to restore to factory settings". The SEND button is the green on silver phone button on the left that you use to call out. 4. The phone will boot up, give it time, it WILL get past the freeze now! 5. Go through the screen set up, etc, just follow the screen instructions. WHEN IT GETS TO "Custom settings in 3 seconds...", this is where ORANGE loads all it's presets on. If you DON'T want all the Orange stuff (in my experience it works better without), stick the stylus in the reset hole at the bottom of the phone before the 3 seconds are up. The phone will reboot but won't have all the Orange stuff on it. Up to you. If you want it, let the custom stuff download. 6. Now to do your backup! Go to settings, programs, file explorer, click the frop down menu to select storage card, find the date of backup which you want to go back to, select it and follow the instructions. You will most probably have to reset the time and date of your phone. It will ask you to do so if necessary. 7. Once it's all done, your phone will reboot, and hey presto you don't need a new spv m600 after all! It'll all be working great again. Hope this helps. It's saved me so many times! :-)
