  1. I have created one more cab for you, if this one doesn't do the job, then I don't know what will aside from a clean boot. inside the zip file, you will see the cab and I also kept the reg file just so you see what is changing. you must do a reset after executing the cab file. cheers. ResetKeyboardSettings.zip
  2. hmm, did you do a reset? also what program was that? I am pretty confident if you do a clean boot, the problem will go away but its just the hasle of installing everything again. Also for future reference, you should use a backup software, like SPB Clone or Sprite Clone (I perfer Sprite Clone). so that once you have done a clean boot and perfected your PDA with all important data + settings you can simply make a backup of it. then at a later stage if you wana install any dodgy programs or stuff up ur PDA, it will not be a problem to restore the perfect image in minutes. Cheers
  3. HP Customer service just called and their feedback was they acknowledged that the Sandisk 1GB and 2GB don't work, there was an incompatibility problem and the solution was to replace the sd card with a different brands, when I heard that feedback, the first thing I said "so there is no solution"! and then it kind of gave me the opportunity to express my feelings freely ;) I won't get into it any more but lets put it this way, the guy said he will escalate this issue again. I pretty much told them they need to come up with a patch, how can HP release a PDA that is incompatible with one of the most popular brands, I seriously couldn't buy any other brand in my city, they are all Sandisk everywhere. I do hope they come up with a real solution (i.e patch) I doubt it though but I won't make them go away easy. @nobtiba1 I am not sure if this will help or not but here are my default keyboard reg settings REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip] "AllowChange"=dword:00000001 "SuggWords"=dword:00000000 "SuggAutoCorr"=dword:00000000 "DefaultIm"="{42429667-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}" "MenuBarHeight"=dword:0000001A "DragStyle"=dword:00000000 "SuggTypedBon"=dword:00000004 "SuggPrevPen"=dword:0000000F "SuggMapBon"=dword:0000000F "SuggCorrPen"=dword:0000001E "SuggTwoCharPen"=dword:00000001 "SuggOneCharPen"=dword:00000005 "SuggDynWordBon"=dword:0000000C "SuggWordLenMin"=dword:00000004 "SuggContDictCount"=dword:0000001F "SuggSpell"=dword:00000001 "SuggSpace"=dword:00000001 "SuggWeight"=dword:00000000 "SuggChars"=dword:00000000 I have attached "Reset Keyboard.cab" which is what u see above, maybe that will help I don't know, worst case scenario is you do a clean boot (i.e default recovery) but make sure you backup everything first. cheers. Reset_Keyboard.cab
  4. Ofcourse I perfer the 8GB SDHC  but The reason I need to get the 1GB or the 2GB to work is because I want to upgrade to WM6.1 and the bootloader of the PDA only recognizes none (SDHC Cards) so they must be either 1 or 2 GB. its pretty simple to update to WM6.1 just copy a file called flash.dio to the SD Card and boot ur PDA and wait for like 45 to 50 mins, but I need a (none SDHC) to work first before I can do all that. you can read more here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=421663 cheers.
  5. Brand new 1GB Sandisk and 2GB Sandisk don't work, they get recognized but cannot read or write to them. The 8GB Sandisk SDHC works fine though !!!, waiting for feedback from HP.
  6. I apologize that was an incorrect typo, its SDHC ofcourse. I have a Sandisk 8 GB SDHC working fine, can you tell me the exact type of micro card you are using please, thanks. I reported the problem yesterday to HP, I was on the phone with them for 1 whole hour and waiting for feedback. The problem is as mentioned above, it would detect a Sandisk 2 GB (not SDHC) card as full and there for cannot read or write to it. all comments are much appreciated. Thanks
  7. Does the Sandisk 2GB Micro SD Card come in different classes ? maybe this has anything to do with it?
  8. I feel like I am speaking with myself in here. comon any feedback please!
  9. Hi, I have 612c and I had problems with a Brand new Sandisk 2GB Micro SD Card, the card is recognized but the PDA thinks its full !! my 612c works fine with a Sandisk 8 GB HSDC card which is really strange !! I went to the shop and I thought there was something wrong with the 2GB card but the guy replaced it with a new one and the same thing happened, we tried formatting it, still the problem presisted. I am not sure if this has anything to do with it or not:- My PDA came with rom version 1.0.01.4 version but I had previously executed a rom update to 1.0.01.4 using the HP update utility just to test the rom and it worked fine ofcourse. but now I am experiencing this strange problem with the Sandisk 2GB Micro SD Card. we tried a differend 2GB sd card by Nokia and it worked fine ! but cannot buy it from shops. I need to know why this problem is happening or if there is a way to fix it, also whats another (none SDHC) 2GB SD Brand that I can use, the main reason I need one that is not SDHC is because I want to perform a WM6.1 rom update (by copying a flash.dio) to the SD card and getting into the SdLoader option. Please advice on the Sandisk 2GB sd card issue, how come it worked for another person and not on my PDA! Thanks
  10. I tried this line and it is incorrect pdocwrite -w -d TRUEFFS -p Part02 0 0x4cbc000 Part02.raw it will produce the following error: C:\tools>pdocwrite -w -d TRUEFFS -p Part02 0 0x4cbc000 Part02.raw CopyFileToTFFS(0:0, 4cbc000, 00000000) ERROR: Unable to open host/destination file - The system cannot find the file specified. but then I tried the following which seems to be a little more accurate but also produced an error:- pdocwrite part02.raw -w -d TRUEFFS -p Part02 0 0x4cbc000 The error is :- C:\tools>pdocwrite part02.raw -w -d TRUEFFS -p Part02 0 0x4cbc000 CopyFileToTFFS(part02.raw:0, 0, 04cbc000) ERROR: ITWriteDisk - The media is write protected. any ideas? thanks
  11. Hello Paul, Thank you for sharing your knowledge, I am still a beginner but learning as I go and plan to take couple of risks with caution. I hope you can give me feedback on the following please I really need it. I have a HP iPAQ 612c it has WM6. My main goal is really simple but maybe dangerous. 1- backup pda images 2- restore pda images <--- dangerous using the latest pdocread and pdocread itsutilsbin-20080731-2.zip from http://www.xs4all.nl/~itsme/projects/xda/tools.html 79.92M (0x4fec000) TRUEFFS | 1.31M (0x14fc00) Part00 | 1.88M (0x1e0000) Part01 | 76.73M (0x4cbc000) Part02 127.88M (0x7fe0000) TRUEFFS | 1.31M (0x14fc00) Part00 | 1.88M (0x1e0000) Part01 | 76.73M (0x4cbc000) Part02 24.98M (0x18fc000) TRUEFFS | 1.31M (0x14fc00) Part00 | 1.88M (0x1e0000) Part01 | 76.73M (0x4cbc000) Part02 7.61G (0x1e6e00000) DSK1: | 7.60G (0x1e6a00000) Part00 The follwing 2 methods is what I used to back up the 3 parts, both methods produced exactly the same file lengths, I am not sure if one method is more accurate than the other, can you please if there is any difference between the 2 methods? Method 1 pdocread -w -d TrueFFS -b 0x800 -p Part00 0 0x14fc00 Part00.raw pdocread -w -d TrueFFS -b 0x800 -p Part01 0 0x1e0000 Part01.raw pdocread -w -d TrueFFS -b 0x800 -p Part02 0 0x4cbc000 Part02.raw Method 2 pdocread -w -d TrueFFS -p Part00 0 0x14fc00 Part00.raw pdocread -w -d TrueFFS -p Part01 0 0x1e0000 Part01.raw pdocread -w -d TrueFFS -p Part02 0 0x4cbc000 Part02.raw I have also learnt that I should backup this file diskimage_Ver.nb0, I am not sure what is the difference between the diskimage_Ver.nb0 and Part02.raw but to show the correct address I typed pdocread -t To back up I type pdocread 0x0 0x5000000 diskimage_Ver.nb0 Here is the most important question of all and one that I've been searching for an answer for, for at least 3 weeks now. I would like to learn how I can safely write the image I created back to the PDA please so here is what I learnt from one of your posts and I wanted to confirm with you if the following line seems to be correct? I changed from FLASHDR to TRUEFFS and also changed the address to map to Part02.raw can you confirm if this is correct? pdocwrite -w -d TRUEFFS -p Part02 0 0x4cbc000 Part02.raw I am not sure how I can write back the diskimage_Ver.nb0 file using pdocwrite? What are the correct arguments? pdocwrite 0x0 0x5000000 diskimage_Ver.nb0 Thanking you in advance and I'd really apprecaite any feedback. Thanks
  12. Hi, I am really interested in purchasing the HP iPAQ 614c/612c. I am living in Australia and we have been waiting for it for quite some time now and unfortunately according to one dealer here, it seems the release date has been postponed again till 3/06/2008 which is really pathetic if its an exact and an identical phone to the 614c. http://www.ow.com.au/shop/PDA-Handhelds/HP...ator-Smartphone I 've done some reading and I am aware of at least couple of major issues with the 614c:- 1- The phone does not switch dynamically from 3G to GPRS and you have to switch off the phone and turn it back on to pick up the signal! which is pretty bad because I want to use it with a 3G network. but there maybe areas where there is only GPRS. 2- Voice distortion when using with a Bluetooth. as I said these are the main two issues I am aware of anyway. I have couple of question I hope someone can clarify please:- 1- Could the reason for delaying the release of the 612c in Australia be because they are fixing the major problems with phone, things like 3G connectivity, etc... or not? this is very important for me to know, because if the phone is an exact and identical to the 614c, I'll just get it from eBay or somewhere else from the UK. 2- Where did you purchase the 612c from? 3- if I purchase the 614c from a UK store, is the HP 1 year Warranty still valid (i.e internationally) ? 4- Does this update fix any of the issues mentioned above? http://www.modaco.com/content/HP-iPaq-iPaq...-00-2-Apr-2008/ Regards, Will
