  1. Hi, I'm a happy user of ChocolateEclair 2.0 ROM on my good old GSM Hero. Recently, I started to run out of RAM after some idiotic apps were enforced on me by our mighty IT guys. I hoped to gain some memory back by enabling the compcache/ramzswap, unfortunately there is no ramzswap.ko module in my /system/libs/modules folder, which is strange since early versions of ChocolateEclair used to support it. I tried to add the required files manually from Villains ROM 12 and from another 2.6.29 kernel ROM as well without any success; it looks like compcache must be compiled specifically for each kernel. I wonder if there is anything obvious I miss which can help me to enable the Compcache without changing the ROM Many thanks Alex

  3. Hi, What backup SW is the best for the upgrading/downgrading to/from the v2.1. I would like to be able to do the full backup/restore: Kernel + android + all the HTC stuff Apps Apps specific data Android Market registration for the installed Apps Google accounts configurations user data - WiFi/BT/Mobile networks configurations mail/Exchange accounts received/sent emails received/sent SMS-es The backup will be done in Android 1.5. The restore should be obviously possible under Android 2.1. In case the phones turnes into the brick during the upload, the restore should still be possible (am I stuck with the nandroid as the only option here?) So what would be the best procedure here = nandroid, titanium, combination of both, or something else? Thanks Alex
  4. Hi, I'm using the 1.91 kernel with my HTC Hero for more than 3 months. It is super stable and very fast. Thank you for your great contribution. I've noticed that the kernel comes with the rooted ADB shell server, while the shell inside the phone is not rooted (it requires su to get root permissions). Is there a way to change the default behavior of the ADB shell, so it will also require the explicit "su" command to get the root access? Thanks Alex
  5. I use [Menu]->[Data sync]->[Exchange Active Sync] to synchronize My work mail and all of my Contacts/Calendars over the wireless networks. USB is used only for charging and for access to the /sdcard. Cheers Alex

  7. Based on a leaked HTC Hero 2.1 ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=592596 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERak0Co3MK0 Enjoy Alex
  8. No-no-no, this will deactivate the "mobile view" for all other web pages :P . Since Hero is already supported by this forum at least on some topics (see my previous post) it would be natural to expect the modaco's guys to add the same support to all other pages. BTW, logging-in provides the workaround.
  9. Yes, I do have the same problem. Looks like modaco's forum bugs. I can access some topics and I can't access others from my Hero. For example, I can read this topic without any problem: You Are Here » Android @ MoDaCo » Other » International » Algemeen - Nederlands » TE KOOP This looks like modaco's board problem.
  10. Hi, Sorry if this is a trivial question but I'm confused with SDK versions vs FW versions. 1. I have a HTc Hero with FW 1.5. Can it execute an application developed with SDK 1.6? 2. Can a phone with FW 1.6 execute an application developed with SDK's 1.5? 3. The tools (ADB, fastboot, etc.) in SDKs 1.6 and 1.5 are different. Is it possible/advisable to use the 1.6 tools with SDK 1.5? Thanks Alex
  11. Thanks. Worked without any problem with my 2.73.721.9 Hero purchased in Hong Kong. I've succesfully installed the Modaco custom ROM 2.7.1. I've decided to keep my radio's FW though.
