  1. cooked a G2 rom last night everything successfully cooked

when I go to flash i GET THIS ERROR

    E:Can't find BOOT

    E:Failure at line 83:

    write_raw_image PACKAGE:boot.img BOOT:

    Installation aborted.

Paul tweeted about this exact issue last night so I'm hoping he has the answer now

So I'm hoping you get to read this paul because I need your input please.

or if anyone else can tell me what to do to fix this error i'm all ears

  2. One thing I'd like to mention is that after rooted the phone runs really choppy

and takes literally twice as long to do anything.

I don't mind just rooting to use my wifi tethering though

and then rebooting after for now.

is anyone else experiencing the choppiness?

It's not Paul's app at all because the original temp root method

did the same thing to my phone

edit: I uninstalled this task manager that I had and that seemed to have made a difference.

    running smoothly now.

  3. Awesome Little App Paul

I knew you would come through with something first

well you atleast made the temp root method alot easier I'm sure we can expect a full root from you soon.

I had the same issues getting it to work as well. I'm not exactly sure how i fixed it but it's working great

    busybox and all

I'm actually using the wifi tether app on my g2 right now connected to my netbook to write this post

    super fast

loving the 4g here in irvine,ca over 7000 mbps

once again thanks paul you never let us down

  4. You do realise who mankes the Nexus One right? It's made by HTC.

Also, The Nexus One nearly obselete? I know technology advances quickly, but it's still a current gen smartphone. Things like the DroidX are no more advanced, they just generally have better cameras or keyboards etc.

    N1 obsolete lol

    Its googles pride and joy

And will get updates before droid x or anything else as always

N1 is the phone to have if you are a die hard android fan.

No regrets here and no wishing I had an evo our desire.

Maybe next year there will be something better.

Just like I stuck with my g1 til the nexus came out I'll stick with my nexus til the next big google phone comes out.

I will only buy htc phones my buddy has a droid and I bought a cliq for my daughter both rooted with all the best available firmware and they are imo shitty phones especially the cliq

I've dropped my g1 so many times as well as my n1 and neither have broke on me.

I'm talking big drops sliding under my car, dropping off my lap into concrete when I get out like an idiot and stuff like that.

    Htc all the way!

  5. I installed this great new rom :) But the market seems to have the 30 seconds connection timeout issue, anybody else experiencing this?

    R16 still running strong

You need to wipe Everything with amon ras recovery

All cache and the system and then install and Everything should work properly.

I've been back and forth between r16 And cyanogens test 5

And only had problems when I didn't do a full wipe. After wiping Everything works as it should

    once again thanks Paul.

And I'm sorry about all the whiners in the other threads worried about old roms.

I'm satisfied and really enjoy your work.

  6. Honestly you guys

there are alot of phones and alot of different things for Paul to work on

How Much do you expect him to do seriously.

all of the kitchens for all the phones

working on custom firmware on all these phones

nobody should blame him for giving his attention to the new stuff

come on guys it's the future

why do you want to be stuck in the past

I loved the desire rom but after using Froyo it would be like going back to Donut

It just gets better and better and you guys should wait for a 2.2 sense rom to come out.

    Or Get a Desire

The nexus One is about the latest and Greatest of Android.

IMO it sounds like some of you need to trade for a desire or evo

    I'm all for moving ahead

you guys should really get out there and try something new.

Those few widgets and the clock are nice but honestly thats all that sense is

Froyo is a whole new world and you guys just need to wait for everyone else to catch up

your apps will eventually work and all your games and what not.

it's not the firmware or anything else.

    it's the app developers

and Real Flash on the phone is awesome and it works great.

not like the desire "FLASH" which people are stating is comparable (not by a long shot)

I've been running froyo since the day it came out and am completely satisfied.

Bluetooth voice commands, auto brightness, flash, installing apk's from email, integrated tethering.

thats just a begining. Too Many Things To List im finding out new stuff everyday.

Just Stop crying everyone and move on.

It's so lame to see the threads about "did paul forget about the desire port' and this and that

and the posts where people are basically talking trash on him not doing anything

flooding with all this +1 crap PLEASE GROW UP KIDS

Enjoy Your Nexus We Have The Best Of GOOGLE Don't Let it Go To Waste

  7. I wouldn't trade my nexus for the new iPhone

just as others suggest really nothing impressive

I'm using froyo and I dare the iPhone to please me more.

froyo is amazing and I started out with a g1 pre cupcake and no market and I still chose that over my iPhone 3g at the time.

    And for the record

I've dropped my nexus dozens of times. On concrete. Sliding under my car falling in-between my seats hitting metal. It's still running strong. Just like all the abuse my g1 took.

ill never buy another phone except an HTC phone again.

  8. two big words. "FLASH VIDEO"

Maybe you guys didn't get froyo working properly.

But the apps2sd Bluetooth dialing. Increased overall speed

    Better battery life. Nicer market.

2.2 isn't 2.1 for a reason lol. Because its better.

Don't be scared of the future guys.

I will admit I was using sense and prefered it over anything else until froyo came out

there are just too many good things about it.

Ill never go back unless 2.2 sense is just as good. Then I might prefer htc sense 2.2 over Google 2.2

  9. If you have a Nexus One right now, you fall into one of two camps: People who’ve installed the 2.2 Update, and people who want to install the 2.2 Update.

However, you might want to hold off. In the Android support forums, a Google employee posted this message:

Just wanted to give a heads up that the build floating around is not the official Froyo release. You will get an automatic notification when we OTA the build, no need to manually download it. You will still get the automatic notification if the official release is a newer version than the one you have, so don’t sweat…but I’d highly recommend waiting for our official release

Any updates will be updated here as well.

there are no issues that I see with this release and if there is a official one like you say then even better.

What is the point of waiting.

flash now and flash again later. No big deal.

  10. It's not actually megabytes, it megabits. Big difference. Its actually more like 350kb/s or so. I'm not sure of the exact conversion to kb/s from Mbps. Hope that helps.

You are right. My mistake. I should have thought about That

So I am at 3megabits per second donwnload

And around 2 megabits per second up

    Wouldn't 1000kbps equal 1mbps though.

It actually says 3445kbps on the speedtest app

  11. Just found out another awesome feature by accident

Bluetooth voice commands now work for the first time on android

I just hung up a call and pushed my button in the Bluetooth by mistake and it says speak now

I said one of my ccontacts names and it connected immediately

I was waiting for this feature forever.

    Another big +++++ for froyo.

I would never go back to anything else now.

Once again the nexus one is on top. I'm gladt I have the best phone ever made. So far.

The desire and incredible are nice. But the benefits of nexus ownership are unbeatable.

Thanks again Paul for giving me a new phone all over again.

I love how android just gets better and better.

I had a g1 before 1.5 and before the android market was even live.

I've waited for cupcake then waited for donut then waited for the nexus and eclair.

Just look at how far we have come since then. What's next.

    screw apple.

    Google for life.

  12. It seems that the radio included with the Froyo update will cap your bandwidth on T-Mobile. If you own a N1 for use on T-Mobile, I suggest using the one w/o Radio Update.

I've tested this with 4 N1's, 2 with new Radio, 2 Without, all at same spot running speedtest, over 10 or so tries.

    I get about 3.5 - 5.2 Mbit/Down, 1.3 Mbit/UP with the old Radio(,

and 1.6-2.5 Mbit/Down and 1.3 Mbit/UP with the new Radio. (They seem to be capping @ 2.5Mbit range).

I'm hitting 3.5mbps downloads in orange county CA on T-Mobile with the new radio

It blows away my friends Droid on Verizon who is lucky to get over 1mb

Honestly though I didn't ever really get over 1mbps down before the new radio.

I definitely feel a huge difference browsing and tethering.

IMO the radio update is much better.

Btw. What state and city are you in. Your speeds sound really good.

  13. I also had issues with ChompSMS and Handcent SMS. Both die every time I try to send a sms. (but the message gets sent) I reverted back to stock and have no issues. I'm assuming something has changed? And they need to update their software? If someone knows more about this let me know.

Handcent was updated today and now works great with no force closing

I emailed the Dev yesterday to tell him about the issues and next day it was fixed. Awesome.

  14. Day 3 using froyo and still no touchscreen issues like with previous roms

I have not experienced it once.

According to what others are saying about the issues I guess I just may be lucky or something.

Everything is working great for me. Market flash apps2sd. I don't understand why so many people are having issues with froyo. I installed once and haven't had to do anything special except run the apps2sd command.

Oh and handcent just updated so it now works well on froyo in case you guys were having force close issues

  15. Could you elaborate on what you mean by the bad screen issues that you had? I didn't have any touchscreen issues on my nexus one, that were effecting my experience. The only issue the N1 had was the multitouch issue where the phone would get your two touch points mixed up when they crossed axis. Of course this was the multitouch issue on all nexus one's, not just mine, and it shouldn't have had any effect on most peoples experience on the N1. As far as I know this is the only screen issue on the N1, and it was rumored to be getting fixed in Froyo 2.2. Unfortunately this issue was not fixed in Froyo...I tested it using two apps(Multitouch Vis Test & Simply Draw), and the problem still exists. Is this the bad touchscreen problem that you are referring to, or did you have some other type of problems?

It would seem like certain apps would make it happen

And it would always happen when removing my from from the desk dock or the car dock

only way I could fix it before was to press power and lock then unlock the screen.

I think you may be referring to the same problem.

But it has not happened once since froyo.

And its almost guaranteed to happen when texting or writing a long message like this one here

    But its still all good.

Either way I'm happy. Lets just hope it diesent start up again. Because it was a pita. I love my phone a whole lot more without that problem. Now if only it would vibrate. My nexus has never vibrated but That's a whole other topic.

  16. Hey what's up guys

I use to have bad touchscreen problems on my nexus since I got it.

it is a known issue as some of you may know.

I've been using froyo since yesterday and haven't experienced any touchscreen issues yet.

I heard rumors that it would be fixed with froyo. I hope this is the case.

Anyways I Just wanted to get feedback from others That have had the problem as well.

Please post if you have any issues or if you use to have issues and Everything is working fine now.

  17. AWW! I was hoping for the coloured trackball alerts as well!

FM radio would be nice. I'm sure Paul will have it working soon and cookable with a froyo kitchen

He's the best IMO. It wont be long.

Once he figures It out on the desire rom then he just needs to implement That into froyo

Btw I love the new keyboard. And it seems so far that the crazy screen issue is gone.

  18. I know this problem. But it's not that serious, and there're ways to avoid it.

For me, I only install games or something that won't be launched as soon as the phone completes its boot process. And when your phone reboots, keep it locked for about half a minute. I've rebooted several times, no app has lost yet, everything is working fine.

Exactly. Some apps you should just leave on internal. Like launchers Widgets. Etc...

Some apps will need to be updated for them to work properly.

    And some will work fine.

Once apps are made for froyo it wont be an issue anymore.

For instance I'm living without handcent ATM Because it keeps force closing.

Anyway. Just give it another month to let the market app devs catch up.

you have to realize we are way ahead of everybody right now.

Oh and a quick note for those who may not know

The class of SD card that you have does matter for performance

Any class will work but class 6 is always recommended for best results

I personally use a class 6 16gb card from a local company called topram.

it works good so far. You can find them on eBay. Around $60 to $70. I forgot how much exactly.
