  1. Thanks, followed your link and found this http://www.mediafire.com/?bm6t7pebqffp441 -- collection of unrestricted boot images for different versions, upto 4.0.4.
  2. oh, you've already got gingerbread? which ROM based on what release do you use and what are your impressions? i've heard the early releases were a bit unstable, am i wrong?
  3. Better late than never :( I gave up making images based on original Softbank software, since they lack some functionality and support only Japanese and English. The topic starter post is updated with the new download links leading to the HTC WWE RUU stock based Froyo (version 2.29.405.5) image(s) slightly modified to perform flawlessly on Softbank network. If you were (like me) waiting until now to upgrade to Froyo -- now it's the time. These images contain WWE (World Wide English) languages and input methods, which is every European language and many more. Japanese is not included, so for Japanese input I use Simeji (can be installed from the Android Market). Radio update is included within the image as well as latest Mms.apk with 100% iPhone-compatible emoji. Also, WiFi Hotspot settings (missing from native SBM images) are enabled -- feel free to turn your phone into wireless hotspot (but keep an eye on your monthly bill just in case).
  4. 1. you cannot update from .exe file, you have to extract the .zip file first 2. this file contains bootloader and radio images along with the system image, if you flash it your phone won't be rooted no more also, i don't see any particular reason to chase after OTA upgrades -- once you have your phone rooted, it's much safer to get the image you really want with all the software you need and flash it manually.
  5. there's a newer version available from http://blog.takuo.jp/2010/07/android-mmsapk-softbank.html it also contains full color emoji 100% compatible with iPhone ones :(
  6. these ROMs are for "HTC Desire", not the "HTC Desire HD". there's another forum section for your handset.
  7. I have just replied in another topic, but just in case will repeat it here again: it's absolutely normal behaviour. install JuicePlotter (free app) and see how the battery voltage changes. usually it charges all the way to the 100%, then waits for a couple hours, then drops the voltage to about 92-95% and starts conditioning battery, recharging back to 100% for another 30-40 minutes. so, there's about 25-30% probability you unplug the phone while this conditioning process takes place, hence the small drop in the voltage.

  9. 1. connect the phone with USB and enter recovery using "power off", "power on" + "back button", then choose 'recovery' in the menu 2. run "recovery.bat" or "recovery.sh", you should see green menu after that 3. use 'adb push Mms.apk /system/app' and 'adb shell rm /system/app/Mms.odex' to install software 4. done :D
  10. please, don't do OTA upgrades, this is very easy way to get unrootable phone you won't be able to do much about. your original software version suggests there are plenty of easy methods to root your particular phone, and after you get it rooted, you may easily download and install any ROM and change back to any other ROM you like (you cannot revert after OTA upgrade). so read one of sticky topics about rooting and get going, it's not that hard :)
  11. after you copy new /system/app/Mms.apk file over, don't forget to delete /system/app/Mms.odex file.
  12. quite easy, actually. unpack the ROM image, change the file, zip it back and sign it. the only non-obvious step is to sign the ROM, but once you've got necessary software (freely available from internet), it takes just a few seconds.
  13. read only files can be copied, probably you do something wrong. through recovery mode. power off, power on while holding "back" button and get into recovery mode.
  14. could you please share, what was the life before and after the change?
  15. they are saved in /system/build.prop file, usually at the very beginning.
