  1. Some questions: 1. Can you please post the official ICS stock ROM for Russia ? 2. Any idea how to restore Google apps on the B977 (FOTA upgrade on the B972) ? The *147258369# no longer works and worse the Google apps are not present under /system/apps The /cust partition contains a file called unstall_apk.xml which seems to be responsible for removing the Google apk's, but when removing this file and performing a restore defaults, still no Gapps can be found. Ideas ?
  2. to convert an old link from the wiki to a new one requiring login, use base64 - example: http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwide/downloadCenter.do?method=toDownloadFile&flay=software&softid=41186 becomes http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwide/downloadCenter.do?method=toDownloadFile&flay=software&softid=NDExODk= Anyone mange to bypass the login ? ?
  3. U8510=Blaze=X3 Confusing as usual :-) There are 2 different versions (as far as I know) U8510-0: 2100 Mhz only U8510-1: 900/2100 Mhz I haven't been able to confirm whether there are any additional hardware differences.. I own a U8510-0 but not the second model, although I've successfully flashed -1 software on it. Incidentally, if you happen to figure out how to access all of the phone's memory contents while in the special flash mode (Vol Up+Vol Down+Power without SD card), please let me know. On the U8800 (X5) this worked easily because there is a memory controller of some kind - on this phone (and others by Huawei) there seems to be none. I'm sure there is a trick to this.. but what is it ?
  4. Actually I can't see anything in there :) do you actually own one ?
  5. Anyone have an insight on how to select the currently active cellular band on the U8180/U8160 or for that matter in any Huawei android smartphone ? I'm using a U8180-1 (900/2100) and have flashed U8180-7 (850/2100) firmware on it to see if it will support 850 Mhz now. Usually different bands mean different hardware versions but in this case I've checked and both U8180-1 and -7 are the same hardware version. I'm thinking it can support 850 with only a software modification. Perhaps a different baseband ? Anyway in order to test my hypothesis I would like to set my phone to 850 Mhz only and check whether is sees the network. In order to that I do the following: 1. Enter the information screen by using the dialer and dialing *#*#4636#*#* 2. Click on "phone information" 3. Turn off the radio (see screenshot) 4. Click on "Select radio band" (see screenshot) 5. Now you can select bands for different world areas. 6. All of them give me an "unsucessful" result (see screenshot) Anyone have a different experience or idea ? pls share -
  6. Probably part of the reason they've done this is because they saw the wikis and all these forums messing with the firmware versions. To Huawei: That's a good thing !!! not a bad thing !! when your devices are not on the forums you know you've failed to get them into the mass market - Bad huawei ! bad !!
  7. I've noticed the U8510-1 is sporting an 800 Mhz processor vs. the U8510-0 which has a 600 Mhz one. Could someone pls confirm ? if there are other hardware difference please list them. Apparently the firmware seems compatible though - I've flashed -1 f/w on my -0 successfully.. the radio baseband version changed, but the phone works just as well -
  8. Sebastian404: are you interested in making this compatible with the U8180 as well ? I've got a few units and am willing to do the testing..
  9. You're in fastboot mode. Type "fastboot boot replace_this_with_your_recovery_filename" to boot into your recovery without flashing it on your device. Question: has anyone tried this on the U8180 (X1) ? what are the odds it works correctly ?
  10. Hi ! Does anyone know where I can get my hands on an IDEOS X1 (U8180) unlock i.e. no sim lock ? Via operators it's all pretty much locked and they refuse to ship via DHL.. I've found one place in Australia selling via ebay, but the phone is locked.. :( Any ideas ? pirh
  11. On the X5 (U8800) I get the following output in dmesg: [ 7764.660044] usb 1-3: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 2 [ 7764.794478] usb 1-3: config 1 has an invalid interface number: 4 but max is 2 [ 7764.794487] usb 1-3: config 1 has an invalid interface number: 20 but max is 2 [ 7764.794495] usb 1-3: config 1 has no interface number 1 [ 7764.794501] usb 1-3: config 1 has no interface number 2 [ 7764.933608] Initializing USB Mass Storage driver... Any ideas ?
  12. IDEOS X3 flash mode: swap out battery re-insert it, then press Vol Up+Vol Down+Power This puts your phone in what seems to be Huawei's flash mode (pink screen). In the X5 (U8800) this mode would give you direct access to all of the partitions stored in the phone's ROM. In this case it is not recognized by Linux at all.. seems like perhaps there is no flash controller that controls access to the different partitions. Perhaps a driver is needed ? Does anyone have any ideas ?
  13. Hi McSpoon, No worries :) Thank you very much ! It is indeed very helpful.. I've successfully flashed the U8510-1V100R001C00B822(Malaysia General) version on my U8510-0 The only difference seems to be the baseband version which has changed - this leads me to think that the U8510-1 and U8510-0 hardware is identical, simply with a different baseband (radio) firmware used. Btw the U8510-0 firmware you found is the Taiwan FarEasTone version. Thanks again and keep us posted on new versions ! -pirh
  14. Hi ! I'm looking for Huawei firmware for the IDEOS X3 for the U8510-0 i.e. the 2100 Mhz only version. As I understand the U8510-1 is 900/2100 and therefore I'm not sure firmware for that device will be compatible. Does anyone have any info to offer ? I found a (Malaysia General) firmware in the wiki: (thanks to McSpoon I assume :-) http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Huawei_Firmware_U8510 But it is for the U8510-1 and I'm not sure what it might to do to my U8510-0 unit.. Rgds! pirh
  15. Hi, Does anyone know of a recovery image for the Huawei U8800 IDEOS X5 ? -pirh
