  1. I'm using Ubuntu and have a beta Streak with 1.1.1 and I have followed Steve's instructions up to step 5. My streak goes into FASTBOOT_MODE. However nothing happens in Ubuntu. I have the Android SDK installed but I have no idea how to run fastboot. Where is the fastboot command?
  2. On my computer there is no option to install the driver from the android device! what do I do? I have Suite installed and that doesn't do anything.
  3. Ok thanks! so now that I am on 1.3 do I need to downgrade before updating baseband or is there something else I need to do?
  4. Well I upgraded from 1.1.1 to 1.3 and I'm having 2 major bugs. My sim card is not working and I have no service. Secondly the capacitive buttons just blink. I am on an unlocked beta streak and I've never had to upgrade the baseband before. Should I do that now? Or any other fixes?
  5. a quick tip to anyone...if you're having problems with nearly anything. Try rebooting at least once and trying again before posting here...
  6. It's not usable in the camera app but Fring can detect and use it just fine.
  7. I used appmonster which worked stupendously.
  8. Just wondering. I was looking around the root and I was wondering, does the /firstboot directory need to be on the filesystem or can I delete it? It's got a bunch of messed up files in it that mess up searches.
  9. on your home page, press menu button, Press ADWSettings, Screen Preferences and then change desktop columns and rows. That might help. Mess around with the ADWSettings until you get what you like though on the resolution that you like. I'm on lcddensity 160 with 6 columns and 6 rows. very nice looking.
  10. I noticed there was no RSS widget as had been included in Dell 2.1 and 1.6 roms. Was that just included by Dell or is this rom missing it for some reason?
  11. Slightly off topic but I was wondering, how does the # mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock6 /system command work? I realize it's remounting with new permissions, but what does the -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock6 part do?
  12. Excellent! Thank you very much Mirrdhyn. I knew the problem was something with the permissions... Worked like a charm.
  13. which is a paid app. something I'd like to avoid. If it can't be done with a terminal then why would a gui be able to do it?
  14. Interesting..I had used the free android terminal emulator to move my build.prop file to /system from /sdcard. However now that I'm wanting to edit it and change the lcd density from 140 to 240. I have tried cp -l build.prop ../../system/ as root and it outputs: cp: can't create '../../system/build.prop': File exists also tried cat build.prop > ../../system/build.prop and got cannot create ../../system/build.prop: read-only file system any suggestions?
