  1. Hosted on there... it is almost certainly a scam.
  2. I don't think the game was a massive success. Putting it only on the Amazon appstore, rather than the far more popular google play can't have helped their android sales. Especially as this was back when Amazon was US only. Also, I forgot to try this and have since kinda retired my hudl! A tablet didn't suit my lifestyle much. I ended up still using my old netbook. So I bought an ultrabook to replace both!
  3. You won't save massive amounts of power by lowering the CPU speed. It'll be the backlight that's causing the screen power usage. Brightness will be the biggest thing there.
  4. I have the first one on my phone (the rest on PC) so I'll try it on the tablet when I have chance. IIRC, whilst good games, the amazon reviews do suggest they are ropey compatibility wise.
  5. Typically on an Android device... it does just that! You got the classic tech support 'turn it off and on again' as far as I can see! :)
  6. Lost.dir always needs to be there. You can do what you want with what's in it but the folder should be there. So it's not a problem that it recreated it. :)
  7. There should be an icon in the windows system tray. You should click it and choose eject before unplugging any external storage in Windows otherwise you can't guarantee it has been safely written (due to caching etc) You might also want to run a Windows chkdsk on the sd card if you haven't been ejecting it.
  8. Are you remembering to 'eject' the sd card in windows before unplugging the usb cable? It could also be a problematic SD card. I had a similar issue on a phone that was fixed by switching to a different model of sd card.
  9. From what people have been saying, there was a full on equaliser before. Not just presets. I never looked at it myself! You said you charged it 'earlier'. How much earlier? In my experience, Android tends not to notice it's battery depletion so much during standby - and then really make up for it when you next use it by plummeting the battery level to what it should be.
  10. Yeah, it's been discussed in here that it's gone: http://www.modaco.com/topic/374369-january-ota-analysis-and-discussion/
  11. No worries. And yeah. I'd never touched Linux myself before getting my first Android and coming to this site either!
  12. He did post this earlier in the thread: http://www.modaco.com/topic/373642-how-to-root-your-hudl-2/?p=2236261 If he's not even sure where to get the drivers, his instructions aren't going to show them. :) I think most stuff around here is fairly Linux oriented because Android is Linux based. And Windows, as you've seen, is a pain in the bum at all this! I would have done this in Linux myself if I hadn't had to get rid of it due to a lack of drive space a few months ago! My Blade and SGS rooting was all done in Linux.
  13. You don't have a fastboot driver. Have a look at the discussion between rootmydevices and me, particularly with regards to pda.net
  14. That mgiht be a great thing! That might well mean it's the only needed driver. Which would simplify things a lot. It did say, when I installed it, that I had an existing ADB driver (the hudl 2 one) which suggests it was trying to install it's own. But I was already passed that stage so I had no idea if it would have worked so didn;t recommend it above. :D I would like to point out at this juncture that I intend to be drunk in 20 minutes and will then cease to be much use until tomorrow. :D
  15. Update driver and browse is what I did. You have to select the folder (i think they are called mtp and debug or something?) And each one only one for one of the device entries - but you have no way of knowing which is which! So you may have to try both folders for the first device you are attempting to install. btw... I'm assuming you are not doing this in Windows 8. You're in for a world of hurt if you are because it doesn't allow unsigned drivers. I do it from my XP based laptop rather than my Windows 8 desktop! It's astonishing how crappy Android device drivers are for Windows. It's like being back on Windows 95 before plug and play took off properly.
  16. These HUDL2 drivers: http://athena.outer-reaches.com/wp/index.php/archives/1170 (top left of the page) No installer here, they have to be installed from device manager. There's two drivers included, one works for 1 of your question marks in device manager, the other works for the other. ADB will then work. But when you drop into fastboot, you get a whole new device error in device manager. Install this and choose 'other' device and fastboot will work: http://pdanet.co/a/ Heh! Was just hunting them down as you posted the request! :D
  17. There's some actual HUDL 2 drivers earlier in the thread which work for ADB. But they don't work when you reboot into fastboot. The 'other' drivers from PDA.net work for that. A combination of those two fulfilled by driver needs in Windows.
  18. Are you sure it's an error? I got something up about a max file size. But I just left it on screen and after a while it started the whole flashing thing. I think it was more of a FYI than an error. Also, windows android drivers really are a pain the backside! Thanks to whoever posted the pda.net thign earlier. I tried just about everything else in this thread first without success. But pda.net worked.
  19. When I ran this after rooting: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devasque.fmount It stated the external SD card wasn't writeable and offered to patch system to fix it for me. I said yes. It rebooted the device and now it seems happy. Were you rooted? I wonder if it's an issue with the rooting? I just checked and explorer can still copy to the sd. I didn't think to check after rooting and before folder mounts patch though...
  20. I move stuff to and from my sd card all the time? Have done since day 1. It's only way I've been able to cope with the limited internal space! Move stuff to the internal card as I need it. I'm using the non-root version of root explorer, which is imaginatively titled 'explorer'
  21. A factory reset won't take out root. It wipes user data.
  22. If you're using the tesco screen protector - it's them that are shite.
  23. I'm guessing it allows APK's to be moved but not obb files? I'm still gonna need to root the thing then if that's the case. :(
  24. Yeah. Cause twitter is well known for its use as a formal communication tool! ;)
