  1. I tried about 3 ROMs and all get aborted. My phone is rooted and I put CWM on it. My current ROM is stock B023 (pretty old, I know) - maybe that is why other (newer) don't install. Please suggest me a ROM that will, so at least I can have a start. Thank you.
  2. well, that is unfortunate... because if their policy is to constrain users, they will go down with clients. At least, I think this is the last Huawei phone that I'll use, if they won't provide a bit of freedom
  3. The G535-L11, known as EE Kestrel (in UK), very similar with Ascend G6 is a very cheap and performant phone, but yet no support for it. In my opinion, this phone is G300's successor. But no custom rom, talks about it. Does anybody knows why this lack of interest for Kestrel? Thank you.
  4. Aftrer rooting my EE Kestrel phone I was surprised to find out that I cannot remove some apps. After further research I figured that only EE apps could not be removed. Those apps are: Deezer, EEFilm, GamesDownloader, MyEE, Twitter, facebook I want to remove all of them (except facebook), but I can't do it using classic methods. Also, the apps seem to be located in a separate section, not in system. I found the apk kules in /cust/orange/ee/app . How can I remove them ?
  5. I updated my first post. Maybe now, a solution can be found. Thank you
  6. Nobody? Maybe I should use a different rooting method? If so, which one? I'm really frustrated at this moment. Thanks.
  7. I just bought an EE Kestrel and I rooted it using https://towelroot.com/ . It seems to be rooted, I have Super Su on it, it grants superuser access to my apps like Root Uninstaller and AntTek Explorer, but I cannot remove system apps. I tried to remove Twitter, Deezer and others, but it says "Can not uninstall app. An unknown error occured". But I can freeze them. Please help me with this issue. Thank you. UPDATE "Normal" system apps can be uninstalled, but the problem is with the apps placed there by EE provider. They seem to be in a different place and cannot be removed. Using Anttek I found them in /cust/orange/ee , but I have no idea how to get rid of this ones.
  8. Hy, I'm trying to write this ROM: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=20396 on my GT-S5839i (Galaxy Ace) with Odin, but It either get stuck on SetupConnection, or it simply fails. I tried Odin 3.04; 3.07; 3.09 ...all the same. Why I want to flash this ROM is because I messed-up with my status bar files and now is corrupted and cannot run. If there is a better way to revert to an original state of the phone, please advice. EDIT <ID:0/004> Added!! <OSM> Enter CS for MD5.. <OSM> Check MD5.. 9. FIRST link (Galaxy SII Gingerbread TW4 UI) is down ! please renew !
  10. Well, is not my particular concern, as I have no reason to fear this...if someone wants to listen to my nasty talks with gf, let him do it :))) But, if this is a real thing, then we as citizens should be concerned, because someone is doing things against our rights. And regarding spam and malicious apps, I think I'm pretty safe with it... it didn't happened. And I hope it will never happen if I am careful ;)
  11. I just read this article and I felt like it worth sharing... maybe there is more than we think. Maybe producers leave some "backdoor" intentionally (at request of some interested...agencies), to make this possible? anyway... read and draw your own conclusions. http://news.discovery.com/tech/gear-and-gadgets/can-the-nsa-remotely-turn-on-your-mobile-phone-140530.htm
  12. I have a nasty problem since a while with my Nook Simple Touch. I haven't used it for a while (~4 months) then when I started to use it, it seemed ok. I charged it and used as normal. But, after ~ a week, I the battery was discharged even if a day before seemed more than 50%. I recharged it and all seemed fine. Until today. Now I remember clearly that I opened it last night, just to check battery and seemed to be more than 75%. Today is dead. I let Cool Reader opened, assuming that Android will close the app if in standby for too long, or I don't know...power management stuff. Could be Cool Reader that drains battery so fast or Android issue? Maybe hardware malfunction? Any similar experiences? Thanks.
  13. I was reading an interesting article about Li-Ion batteries and I understand an interesting fact: most mobile phones charge batteries until peak, but skip the saturation charge (the process that stabilize the battery and makes it provide power for more hours). Of course, skipping saturation will increase the battery life. But what's good a battery that keeps on for one day, even if it will last forever (I mean the battery life) ? I would rather have a battery that keeps my phone up for 2x longer, even if that means I need a new one every 1-2 years. So, here is the article: http://batteryuniver...m_ion_batteries The issue is this: the charging voltage for a Li-Ion battery is ~4.20V, and the intensity doesn't have to be much. If you rise the current, you will decrease the Peak time, but will INCREASE the Saturation time... so the charging time for a Li-Ion battery is always constant. A full charge cycle will need 180 minutes for best results. On this time, there are three stages: Peak Charge - when voltage reaches a constant value Saturation Charge - when the battery stabilizes and will be able to provide same power for longer time Ready (when current reaches <3% from rated value) (optional) - Stand-By mode (will apply a topping charge when voltage drops under 4.05V / cell - but also stress the battery and reduce life) My phone says it's ready after ~1 hour of charging... from this I can assume that it skips Stage2. And thus, the battery needs to be charged more often. The main question here is this: can the charging process be altered? To force the phone to run both in stage 1 and stage 2 ?And if it is possible, how can it be done? Anyone here would be willing to do it?
  14. Here is not about defragmenting files as alocated, like in a hard-disk, but rather defragmenting the database (compacting it, removing empty records and so on). Defragmenting a database means optimizing it and therefore it will be read much faster. And yes, I've noticed that my android device becomes slower over time...and I cannot explain why. It doesn't matter what ROM I have, all become slower the longer I use them... this is why I was thinking it may be a db-fragmenting problem.
