It's not gonna happen i'm afraid :D

This is a bit like the hermes GPS debate over at XDA-Dev's

The Hermes HAS the qualcomm 6275 chip, the same as the HTC trinity, they also share the same radio, so the Hermes DOES have GPS somewhere inside it.

However it looks like its missing bits, when in the radio bootloader via mtty.exe you can execute all the AT@startgps commands etc to the radio but it will always return that it can't see any satelites :D

rtask b

Enter Radio Image

AT-Command Interpreter ready

This leads me to believe it may be missing an RF amplifier allowing it to pick up GPS signals. Also some replacement DLL's in the windows folder are required to 'activate' COM9 (GPS port on trinity)

The same may be true for the Compact III on a few levels:

Idea 1: The Compact II HAS wifi hardware but is disabled in the radio/ '/windows'

Idea 2: Its missing the relevant chips much like the C600, you can actually open one up and see the space on the board for the chips.

If somebody sent me Compact III i could tell you which one :D :D

Phil

[EDIT: BTW sorry for the complete off topic-ness but its similar (kind of :))]
