hi Sh4d0w940 & hunk74

I gave your response to Huawei and keep trying to press them.

As follows in chinese

"請給我們

1. 驅動程式的 source code

2. 特別是視訊鏡頭

3. 以及多點觸控"

However, the topic of the thread in Huawei forum was changed to "U8220代码发放贴(luoxin为技术专家,关注他的回帖)" which means "the thread to publish codes of U8220 (notice the responses from luoxin, he is a technical professional)"

I read the reply from luoxin. He said that "U8220 屏幕硬件上不支持多点" which means "U8220 does not support multi-touch limited by the hardware ".

Sincerely,

Forget the multitouch, we may annoy them with that request, since they never made any. We just need source for the drivers for front camera, main camera, sensors, wifi etc that were used for the 2.1 release. Thats needed to get stable 2.2 or 2.3 as they can potentially be added to the newer kernel. If they are willing this shouldn't be difficult for them, they've had them for over a year now.

Hi thisweb,

Could you please give more info about the drivers code? Huawei said they already open the kernel code and it has already been included in it.

Huawei mentioned the HAL layer, we need code of this part?

Thanks

qhxy: We already have the kernel source since last year, but we don't have the drivers source code, only the compiled binaries. The compiled drivers are unusable for newer android versions (2.2, 2.3).

The source code for the compiled drivers are needed, not the kernel , that way they can be fiddled with to work on 2.2/ 2.3. Currently we only have the closed compiled drivers so we can't change anything, all we can do is try and fit them in with the kernel source but thats not good enough, they simply won't work with the new kernel needed for froyo/gb. Obviously most things work on the current foyo CM6 but the missing bits just don't We need to see whats inside theose drivers to fix those. So if you are able to ask them for the source code for the hardware drivers that would be most excellent  All this assumes someone else here can do something with the code, I expect they will be able to - beyond my skills, sorry)

Being able to upgrade to a newer kernel version would give some slight benefits but there is nothing really critical that depends on it any more. The only thing that would be helpful moving to a newer kernel (other than someone willing to do the work) would be the source code to the ar6000 driver that is supplied as a module. The driver at http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/ath6kl might form a better base to use with newer kernels though.

The thing that would be really useful is source code to libcamera.so and it's dependencies but that will be (possibly modified) Qualcomm code that Huawei won't have rights to distribute.

The only useful bit they might be able to distribute is source code to libhardware.so

libandroid_runtime.so

Any chance someone who speaks chinese can ask Huawei for the source for this file specifically. This contains the class driver for front camera amongst other things. We really need this. A little pressure might help , given they said they would upload the source already. This is in the official 2.1 rom.
