I think it is clear he has confused the B892 update for ics, why exactly is beyond me?

So it is settled then, I can take my finger off the big red button now lol

..... yeah "Put G300 down and back away slowly"..

thought it would be a bit strange rolling out 2 updates in as many days.

still i think it will be be the same as B927 just with a load of vodafone rubbish on there.

cant see it having openGL tbh :(

I've ordered a g300 for the mother in law. It'll be locked to voda but I'll be using it on Tesco mobile. What's the easiest way to get ICS (stable!) On it?

Just to let you know the modaco news team will let you know when Vodafone release ics.

Several news sites falsely reported as they did not understand Vodafone's blog.

I got a notification on my G300 today for a "firmware" update - not "ICS" - called U8815_Vodafone_B892. However i cannot update. I get the following message when I boot into system recovery and execute the update:

-- OTA update

Finding update package...

Opening update package...

Verifying update pakage

Installing update...

Now hota starting...

Verifying current system...

Checking patch files...

assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/BeyondTheSkyTheme.apk". "93c2e49fd40cc2bde3a9f5dd2e30df16eb9490")

pid=122. staturs=1792

E:Error in /sdcard/HwOUC/update.zip

(Status 7)

Installation aborted.

I need help with this as I dont see what i am doing wrong.

Thanks in advance.

Could someone explain to me what this OpenGL stuff is about? Have Huawei not made it available on G300 for some reason?

Huawei have not implemented the 2D hardware acceleration for OpenGL. The UI does not draw as quickly as it otherwise might and battery life is also impacted. Yeah, its a budget phone, but omitting support for fairly major hardware features is pretty lame, even so. Qualcomm released the Adreno 200 2D driver in March, so it is possible that other devs may sort it out, but the G300 is currently suffering frm lack of interest from the Android hacking community atm... Odd considering it is obviously a best-in-class device.

why?

Kernel sources are fundamental for complete, clean ROM. Cutting out binaries from prebaked ROM from Huawei and putting into one piece is a nonsense. And old kernel sources are meant to be for Gingerbread, not for ICS.
