Guest Pondrew
Before you get to the three colour screen there should be a moment when the screen is white (it will say Card Found if you have an SD card in it) and prompts you to press any key to enter bootloader. When it says press any key hold the action key (joystick) and it should take you to a menu called Voyager DIAG v0.33. Here option 8 will read RUU RECOV. Select that and your device will be hard reset. Remember this means you'll have lost all your contacts/apps installed.
Guest Geeklord
The hard reset is a bit tricky the first time you try it. Points to remember (according to Squall): - make sure your at full battery when you do the hard reset. it doesn't eat up juice, but a battery-level memory problem allegedly occurs (if you're at 83% full bat when you hard reset, the phone will calibrate itself so that your 83% is 100% after the hard reset. better to be safe than sorry. - remove your SD card (even the fake plastic one) before you attempt a hard reset. - when you press the on and rec button at the same time, you have to press the action button as soon as you see the white screen that says press any key to enter bootloader. You only have a split second window of oportunity to do this, otherwise you'll end up in the canary screen. if so, just turn off the phone and try again. you'll get the hang of it. - when you get it right, your screen should turn out grey with numbers 1 - 8. Number 8 is the only one with a visible option, numbers 1 - 7 are blank or not meant to be seen. select no. 8 then sit back and enjoy. hard reset takes less than five minutes to complete the whole process. Guest awarner [MVP]
A Hard Reset returns the phone back to it's factory defaults or to the defaults of the most recent ROM you have installed.
