Custom Ringtones Problem OS2002

Hello.

I have this annoying problems with custom ringtones. I have my ringtones saved as .wav files under my documents in my SD card. i can setup all my ringtones fine under settings>sounds, they all show up and work fine. the problem is that when i go to my contacts edit to put a custom tone, none of the ringtones on my sd card show up, only the stock tones the phone comes with show up. i also tried putting the .wav tone under the phone memory and they still dont show up in the edit contacts custom ring tone. only in the settings>sounds they show up.

i tried looking everywhere for help but cant find any post with this information.

id appreciate the help. thxs

Custom ringtones for contacts need to be stored on the phone and not the storage card.

srry for reviving this, but have u tried to put ur new ringtones in the exact folder where all the stock ringtones are stored?? i was thinkin about tryin this cuz i noticed that the "hello moto" ringtone was on my phone, so i searched for it, found it and realized it was a wav file. so im thinkin thats what needs to be done with all the ringtones then.

Editing the registry to make custom ringtones on the SD card is not avisable as it can make the phone unstable and may result in partial resets.

Hey There.

I got this to work by putting the file in the Windows directory (same place as the stock ring tones), marking it as a System file using the File Manager, then rebooting the phone. It had to be a .wav file, which was a real bummer as there's not much room for larger files in that area.

That worked for a few days, but now the file disappears from the Windows directory when I reboot the phone........not sure what is happening now with that.....

Welcome to the forum ;)

The ROM rewrites the \Windows folder every time you reboot so you will lose files you copy into there.

i learned that the hard way. worked like 20 mins on getting a wav file just right, put it in the /windows directory. battery died, then ringtone was gone, and i also deleted it from my computer too. lol

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Download freeware RJV tonesetter and convert your file to wma file. it will save u memory also & u can place the same on SD card. Select any tone for anything, alarm, sms, ring. for individual contact phone place the wma file in sounds under application files forlder on storage (not card) and individually select for all contact files.
