Well fret no more thanks to Rotastrain at XDA Developers! He has managed to enable a full screen mode, which will automatically change back to normal screen when you need the soft keys, and added a retractable slider bar :) Have a look at his video where he shows off the extra functions. You can see what a difference the extra screen space makes, and it all still runs very smoothly!
