BEWARE of this individual and their operation

Having spent $20 in trying to unlock my HTC Wildfire, the individual who appears to be running this operation ( http://android.modaco.com/index.php?act=an...f=437&id=12 ) seems to be avoiding giving me a refund after my NOT HAVING RECEIVED what I've paid for. Having frequented the 'live help' on their website and sent them several emails, this individual seems to think he can 'fob you off' by sending you forum links (pathetically 'inviting' you to pay more for a service you thought you'd purchased).

BEWARE and LET OTHERS KNOW. You've been warned..

Btw I hope the moderator/owner will remove the 'recommendation' from the forum so noone else hands over their money to this individual. Here are some things I found from the website

http://www.htccode.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1636

http://www.htccode.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1625

You may also find good testimonials as well. However, I believe the issue lies in the following. There are some HTC phones that are 'new', and therefore codes are not available. This is known to this individual, who has produced a forum-thread highlighting it. However, this isn't made known to people before they send their money and - with this individual having experienced the issue with "customers"/("suckers") previously, they don't seem intent on making it known. So, if you have a phone that falls into this category, and have paid your money, instead of receiving a refund you may instead be sent this forum-thread; audaciously asking for more money if you want a code.

What I've done is request a refund through PayPal, and hope to extract my money back this way (as I believe one of the links above mentions).

So again, you've been warned of this individual and how they operate - which is tantamount to theft

Funny I got stung by this myself, although the code did work. Nowhere on the front page or where you read about the 'service' does it mention that you'll be stung for more money.

I can only hope Paul adds that to the sticky.

I posted about this in the Desire forums (in Dec 2010 sometime); also pm'd Paul (modaco owner) and tweeted him to remove the stickied thread.

Yet the link still exist in his forums (here). Nothing to do with the pay per click or any other deal Paul may have (or not) with HTCCODE.com.

I had the same issue as most people. No code, no response, caught the guy on the live help line, cornered him, and got my refund. It took a few hours to catch him online, but i got it.

He also tried the whole " your phone is new and we need another $15 to give you a code".

I also reported his site to his hosts. As his site clearly breaches what services he is offering!

Stay away
