Paul,

In your considered opinion, worth every penny of the £250 or not?

How easy would it be for a newbie to Android to buy and route and then get all this working on the Vega?

Regards

Dave

Alrighty, flashed my device to 1.0.3 now so i'm working with the latest version.

Now have Live Wallpapers showing properly in the market (they weren't before).

Getting there!

I think it's pretty good for the price personally!

I'll make sure the process is newbie friendly... B)

I just need to work out how to package it up for you luvverly lot! B)

Legendary! Truly amazing!

Cheers Paul for all your hard work. I will definitely renewing my MoDaCo subscription when it expires. I've sourced all my information and roms from MoDaco for all three of my devices (Blade, Pulse and Vega).

Thank you!

Nice idea, BUT... we don't have a way to boot into recovery yet!

I haven't found the key combination...

P

So the sequence from the full_system_flash_instructions.pdf :

Place the Advent Vega into recovery mode by:

o Turn the Vega off by holding down the POWER button for 6 seconds

o Once off, hold the BACK button down for 2 seconds

o Then, whilst keeping the BACK button held, press and hold the POWER button for 2

seconds

o Then release just the POWER button but keep holding the BACK button for a further

2 seconds

o Release the BACK button

does not work then (my Vega has not arrived yet, so I can't try)?

Anyone else tried it?

Hi folks,

Long time listener, first time caller.

I'm looking to pick up a Vega having been keeping an eye on some of the new tablets coming out such as the Notion Ink, Novatech nTablet etc ... but they all see seem to have a similar spec/concept.

The one thing I did notice about the Novatech is that you can get it without any OS so you can stick anything you want on it, such as a touch friendly/lite Ububtu distro. Will we able to do anything like that with the Vega? Or is Android the maximum we can expect (not that it is a bad thing) ...

Thanks

Someone managed to run Ubuntu on their Tab. Should be able to do the same on the Vega. Have a look at:

Is that running natively or is it a bit of a cheat?

Just going through the Kernel config (should have made notes)

We have ext2/3 but not 4 and the fat stuff

USB networking. Useful for tetherring I'd guess. Perhaps part of the software update? Wild speculation

Firewall stuff is there I think

No USB printing it looks like

It looks like no frequency scaling. I dont get that at all. Maybe I'm missing something?

I'm no developer and I only scanned it so feel free to correct me

Wow this is all looking very promising. Hopefully my Vega will have been delivered by the time I get back from the big smog and I will get to have a play!

How exciting!

It runs as a sub-system using CHROOT.

So not native then? What I would want in that case is to switch on my tablet/phone and it boot into Ubuntu. No work arounds.

Amazing work! You may just have saved this purchase from being a return within 7 days!

A donation to your Leukaemia Research fund is on it's way!
