Guest cjb110
I had a SanFrancisco, so I thought I understood what a ROM is, but on getting my Galaxy S II and looking around there seems to be two camps, roms and Kernels...and I'm not sure the difference any more! Can some give me a dummies overview? :P

Guest WearTheFoxHat
A good analogy is Linux operating systems. Ubuntu/Gnome etc is the "ROM", and the Linux OS is the Kernel.
Guest Talvathir
Think of it as a car, the body, interior and everything else you see is the ROM, engine is the kernel.
