Reminder: Selling items on the forum directly is not allowed   07/30/15

Please note that selling items on the forum directly is not allowed by the forum rules. There is a forum for eBay auctions whereby you can list the items on eBay and link to them there. This is the ONLY forum for this type of activity. You may also advertise links to the eBay forum in your signature. Please note that selling directly in contravention of these rules will result in a warning / suspension / ban.

"Backup" all firmware updates advise us to do...

1 post in this topic

All the firmware update tutorials state that a user should do a backup before installing the firmware. Usually a full reset is recommended, which wipes your data, etc. so you want a backup, right?

But none of them really describe what a good backup would be.

- Is there a generic "back up your phone data, apps, widgets and do-dad's" tutorial out there?

- Is there really a backup app that I can use that will save ALL my user data, and ALL the apps and their settings? Will it actually recover everything?

Usually, when I do any kind of major update, I wipe the phone and just start from scratch afterwards, which is a BIG pain... It's an ever bigger pain when updating the wife's tablet or the daughters phone.

What should someone be doing to minimize the impact of a major update?
