Motorola to release RAZR MAXX in Europe

Did you know that the Motorola RAZR got released in the UK? Like most Motorola phones round these parts, it wasn’t launched to much aplomb outside the US and I can’t honestly say I’ve ever seen one being used or sold. So, it’s interesting that we’re hearing the RAZR’s thicker, endurance champion brother is coming to Europe and the Middle East in May.

The RAZR MAXX is a version of the original (Droid) RAZR that is nearly identical in all aspects, apart from the inclusion of a preposterous 3300mAh battery. The growth in battery size has bumped the handset up to 8.99mm from the original’s incredibly svelte 7.1, but that’s a small price to pay for almost double the battery life. Factor in that the European version won’t feature LTE and I’d almost expect this thing to run for decades off a charge.

Of course, there are some downsides. The screen is said to be pretty naff, much like the original. It’s a 4.3” unit at qHD resolution, but let down by using the Pentile technology. Also to complain about is the inclusion of Moto’s skin, which can only be described as “MEH”. The skin sits on top of Gingerbread, though - so we don't even get ICS at launch. Motorola have promised that the RAZR will be receiving the update, but whether the MAXX will is yet to be confirmed.
3300mAh is more like it. This is what phones should have - they are now PDAs and browsers and media centres and satnav and cameras and word processors and more, so they need power to run all of that. Good for Motorola. I used to love my old Razr flip phone, the v3im, maybe it is time to move back from HTC?

3300mAh is very good. Just sadly, Motorola don't produce very good phones, and their support abilities are down there in the dirt with LG.

I'd wait for the Huawei D Quad XL...that's got 2500mAh in a phone people might want...

There's no mention of what version of Android it'll be running, but Motorola are testing 4.0.4 on the RAZR and MAXX in the USA with the Motorola Feedback forum. So hopefully it'll launch with Ice Cream Sandwich
