you should enable swap (on sd-card) by default, it boosts our old but gold blades! ;)

Why would I do that. Hardly no one even has a swap partition on their sdcard (I don't). Some people are now multi-booting ROMs and I can't even know which one is swap partition (not necessarely /dev/block/mmcblk0p3). If you want to use swap on sdcard, it isn't too difficult to add a simple script for it.

Zram works now and you can enable it from the settings.

System size for the ROM and gapps in the first post is ~142mb.

Updating from some other ROM:

  1. boot to clockworkmod
  2. mounts & storage -> format system
  3. wipe data & factory reset
  4. install zip from sdcard -> cm-10-xxxxxxxx-KonstaKANG-blade.zip
  5. install zip from sdcard -> gapps-jb-xxxxxxxx-KonstaKANG.zip
  6. reboot now

Updating from previous version of this ROM:

  1. boot to clockworkmod
  2. install zip from sdcard -> cm-10-xxxxxxxx-KonstaKANG-blade.zip
  3. reboot now

If you have installed some other gapps package:

  1. boot to clockworkmod
  2. mounts & storage -> format system
  3. install zip from sdcard -> cm-10-xxxxxxxx-KonstaKANG-blade.zip
  4. install zip from sdcard -> gapps-jb-xxxxxxxx-KonstaKANG.zip
  5. reboot now

Hi there,

i've just compiled my own cm10 with Konsta's "patches to 160 MB". The UI transitions seems a little bit slow, is it my imagination?

I've been using my CM9 build (ECoBlade) with dithering off for quite some time, and so I'm now used to "apparently" fast transitions. Is the project butter forcing too much frames per second on the transitions and our Blade's can't handle it, or the problem lies in other places?

Thanks,

João Ventura

PS: I set dithering off in cm10 although I've not perceived any improvements in UI smoothness..

Zram works now and you can enable it from the settings.

Well, I know, I just created a swap partition on my sd-card with 256MB and added a file called "userinit.sh" to "\data\local\" which contains just one row with "swapon \dev\block\mmcblk0p3" and its working very well! (in my opinion faster and better than zram, because zram uses CPU-power and we know, that blade does not have very much of it)

I just thougt you could add a query, that checks if SD card contains a swap partition and then activate it automatically, maybe with a switch in settings to turn on/off? But of course this has no priority!

1. Swap will be a LOT slower than zRAM in all settings.

2. Why would you need swap? Apps and unchanged data won't be swapped to swap, they will be swapped back to wherever they were read from. So if you are not editing large documents on your phone it won't be used.

3. Do you know what swap is? It removes data from memory and stores it on your sdcard until it is used again at which point it reads it back to memory and moves other data from memory to swap. Do you really think that can be faster than zRAM in any scenario? zRAM is about 500 - 1000 times as fast as that and with a lot less overhead.

4. Swapping uses a LOT more (many times more) cpu power.

This isn't and opinion, those are the facts.

I was up and running straight away with cm-10-20121016-KonstaKANG-blade but had the gallery bug and gapps-jb-20121017-KonstaKANG didn't work. So, I replaced it with cm-10-20121017-KonstaKANG-blade and the gapps from before... and it's barely working. :(

Anyone else having these problems?

Hardware home doesn't do anything, did in Oct 16th.

No Gmail or Play.

Calendar doesn't sync.

Browser doesn't work.

What do you mean you are an idiot for trying this with only a 128Mb system partition? How dare you!

Oops, sorted now.

I couldn't get my 3g internet to connect using the most recent versions (16 or 17). Should have got a logcat of it, which I'll do later. :blush:

However, attached is a logcat of the old version 10/10, losing the connection when I attempt to download / update from the play store. Happens every time, so hopefully some more intelligent people than me can decipher what's going on!
