AppGratis, the free-app-a-day application, is today offering a free lifetime licence for Cerberus, the excellent anti theft application.

Cerberus - normally provided with a one week free trial and a €2.99 lifetime upgrade - allows you to remote control your lost / stolen phone through the www.cerberusapp.com website or via text messages and also can be configured to send automatic alerts if someone uses your phone with an unauthorized SIM card.

The remote control feature provides a whole host of functions on your device, allowing you to:

  • Locate and track it
  • Start a loud alarm, even if the device is set to silent mode
  • Wipe the internal memory and the SD card
  • Hide Cerberus from the app drawer
  • Lock the device with a code
  • Record audio from the microphone
  • Get a list of last calls sent and received
  • Get information about network and operator the device is connected to
  • And much more!

Cerberus automatically enables GPS if it is off when you try to locate your device (only on Android < 2.3.3) and you can protect it from unauthorised uninstallation.

The app works even if the device does not have an internet connection thanks to remote control by SMS messages. Texts received and sent for Cerberus remote control will start show as a notification and will not appear in the Messages application.

Cerberus does not drain the battery because there is no background service running - it will activate only if there is a remote control request and will stop afterwards.

If your device is rooted, you can enablecomplete uninstall protection (a thief will be able to delete Cerberus only by flashing another ROM) and configure GPS auto-enabling on Android > 2.3.3.

To get your free licence, install AppGratis from the Play Store, install Cerberus and when you sign up / activate you will receive an e-mail notifying you that your free lifetime licence has been activated.

Very nice!

Looks like they are suffering with their popularity. Struggling to get their website to load up, and can't log in to the phone app either.
