Honor, the 'just don't call it Huawei' sub-brand of the Chinese giant, has announced revenues of $2.63 billion for the first half of 2015, easily eclipsing sales for the whole of 2014 with over 20 million total devices shipped. An increase of 69% on 2014, this outperforms the parent company which itself grew shipments by 39% to a total of 48.2 million devices. Honor expect to ship an impressive 40m units in total by the end of 2015.

This growth comes against a backdrop of only 7% growth in Smartphone demand globally, showing that Honor (and of course Huawei) are well placed to capitalise on a trend towards lower cost, higher spec devices and what seems to be the death of premium flagships (just ask Samsung, HTC et al).

Honor aren't just selling lots of devices... apparently people are happy with them too:

According to IPSOS, the satisfaction rate of Honor products reached 90%, ranking Honor No.1 in China, while the repurchase rate of Honor products reached 81%. Additionally, Honor’s brand satisfaction on JD.com surged to 98%, also topping other brands.

With their products already available in 74 regions and countries across the world, Honor plans to work to increase overseas shipments throughout the rest of the year, which currently sit at 3 million units out of the total 20 million in the first half of 2015, primarily focusing on direct sales through online channels with a small number of operator partners (such as Three in the UK).

The coming months will see the European launch of the Honor 7, a device that has been very well received in China and looks set to take the fight still further to the big players.
