Guest nmayer79 Posted November 24, 2009 Report Share Posted November 24, 2009 Ya I dont think the comm manager wifi works on the last couple builds...At least I havent gotten it to work..It acts like it works on the phone but it wont give them computer or whatever you are trying to connect with a IP address like it is suppose to. I noticed the same thing, anyone have any luck with this. Really liked the use of phone as a wireless router but every cooked rom i've tried it on it doesn't seem to work. Guest nmayer79 Posted November 25, 2009 Report Share Posted November 25, 2009 Okay, so I'm still running the 8.0 M2D2 release, but I have since restarted the phone, and I tested the alarm again on battery and it works now. I have tried a few different things and cannot get it to NOT work. I am officially confused. Why did it not work, I have done nothing different, and now it works? Hell if I know. Well, I may have installed a few cabs and I don't think I had soft reset following that. Maybe that was the problem? edit: Noticed something else, and forgot to post it. Text messages. Something strange is going on. In some of the threaded conversations, I see all of the texts. In at least one threaded conversation, I only see my texts and not the ones the other party sent. In one conversation I've been having, I see nothing, just a scrollable wall of white. The only way I can see what the text message says, and thankfully, is through the HTC/M2D2 SMS screen. Most of these conversations were backed up and restored with PIM Backup, but the ones with issues have all been conversations I've continued with the new ROM. But yet, one of the threaded conversations that has continued since flashing the new ROM is entirely intact. Have had this same issue, only way i know to get around it is to get to my messages via a different route. If i click on mess in the htc/m2d2 screen and i get wall of white then i back out, hit the all mess tab then select the thread i want and it is fine or vise versa. hope this helps. You don't get an option when you flash a new ROM to your phone. Non of the ROMs that I have flashed from blazingwolf, bga7x or wozzer have ever had that option to formatted the "storage" drive at time of flash, not even your ROM. Be careful and back up if you flash this ROM. Was wondering, did a hard reset before flashing for the first time and was sure it wouldnt affect my storage. :D I was wrong, i backed up with pim and as usual i saved backup on my storage, oops. Guest nmayer79 Posted November 25, 2009 Report Share Posted November 25, 2009 I had this issue as well. It began AFTER I used Microsoft's My Phone to resync my sms messages. WHAT A PAIN it was to fix, but here is what I did: A. Delete all sms from My Phone website. B. Resync with My Phone C. Gave up 1. HARD RESET (for the person above that asked, the code is the last 4 of your MDN unless you changed the lock code) 2. Pledged not to use Microsoft My Phone ever again. My issue also involved not being able to send or receive SMS at all. Before using My Phone sync, I was able to get SMS but they only showed in M2D SMS screen. Messaging > Text Messages only showed messages that I "sent" but they actually weren't sending. After the hard reset, sending from M2D SMS screen or from Messaging > Text Messages works perfectly and send/receives right away. *Waremike, GREAT JOB. My only complaint is the stripped to nothing BASE. I prefer BASE but didn't want to spend my entire day working at Big Red installing .cab after .cab to get everything back on that I use. So I also figured out that using M2DC for anything (including just removing the tabs) will actually break M2D in some way or form. Since I have no qualms with anything outside of the order of my tabs and how many are displayed, I decided to just manually edit the HTCHomeSettings myself. Took me a while to figure out how to actually overwrite the file as it is cooked into the ROM. Anywho's I got rid of the tabs I wanted and reordered them without breaking M2D. However I was wondering how do I switch the soft keys that display for the tabs? Right now when you're on the home tab I see Phone and Camera. I would like for these to be Contacts and Call Log. Do you think this is possible? Anyone know if Keyswap does the trick?? Holy Sh*t 50 posts, no longer a newbie!!!!!!!!!!!!! For some reason it says Libreville and 78 degrees. I am definitely not in Libreville and no way is it 78 in northern Ohio. If I understand correctly, this weather location is automatically set by closest cell tower. Any idea why it would be defaulting to a location in Georgia? Everything else is working great. Thank you again. I am having the same problem. Except it thinks i'm in Africa. I also remember someones thought he was in Iceland. Google maps will sometimes think I somewhere else also (with only aGPS on). I have done a *228 and even cleared my maps cache. Any ideas? EDIT: Gmaps now thinks i'm where I'm supposed to be after I cleared the map cache however the home screen still reports a different location. What did you use to make the initial backup? I pulled the fleo tester after only about 50 downloads so it may be hard to come by, even I don't have a copy anymore. Sorry for the delay on the updates... the usual story, got busy w/ work and family. Also, I've been working hard on my Neo theme, but just can't seem to get it the way I want it. Skinning is NOT my strong suit. Maybe I'll throw up some screens to see what people think (and maybe get some suggestions). Thanks to all for your patience. Guest Lexdad86 Posted November 29, 2009 Report Share Posted November 29, 2009 In my opinion I like the clock readout and the font type in the second one (black/white screen) but the colored icons in the first screen, so maybe if you mixed those in together as in maybe keep the same font of the second picture with the bold large numbers but change the color of the numbers to stand out better for each skin but copy over the colored icons from the first screen you posted............ I think that would be a winner. Thats my opinion but all of your work is pretty amazing anyways so I'm sure you figure something out anyways. As for the softkey bar, I don't know of a way to edit it myself, it may be possible though. I might release an old UI version becuase there are still new builds for it and they run very well. I accidentally changed the background of my home screen on the M2D2 rom, and now its a yellow to blue gradient that is ugly as hell. Anything else i try and set as the home wallpaper does nothing. I just want the regular one back, the black on with the red swooshes that on all the other screens of M2D2. Crap, now i managed to change the background to a picture of my choice, but now the top and bottom bars are purple and theres no vertical bars by the soft keys anymore and it looks aweful. Nothing against this forum, I love it here and really appreciate it, but I learned almost everything I know over there. And, I always post it here immediately after, so, no big deal really. Ok, here's both my general winmo theme and my m2d images. They all go in the \windows folder. I'm also attaching to this post, the original HTCHomeSettings.xml if anyone goofed up their layout. Let me know if I missed any images. If you're using my roms, it's already the default even though I removed the tsk.
