Hmm, i've tried these settings, and everything seems OK, but the resulting video breaks up, and stops playing after about a second of playing. I'm using Divx 5.04 as you suggested. Any ideas?

sorted. VDub wasn't importing your bitrate settings for the encode for some reason, set it to 200kb/s and it worked fine.Is that about what you used?

I didnt get sound settings but I guess to each their own, meaning you should set the sound in acordance to what filesize your looking for. Ive done a few tests on my own already and am very pleased with the video settings. I will make my first full-legth movie conversion overnight. After the test runs I am happy using mp3-24kb/s-24,000Hz mono. Hopefully the size wont be too huge but now i probably need to invest in another battery if i intend to watch it.

Odd, i think i must have released the wrong ones!!

Updated the post with the new file, tell me what bitrate it gives you (should be 198)

Hi Clint i'm also testing here. Can you or have you made a step by step for converting with vdub. I'm using divx 5.0.3.  At the framerate conversion settings do i have to put in on the third frame or process each frame?

Sorry if this is a little OT. What size files do methods like this and others produce?

I used your vcf file which was helpful in getting it to the right size but whatever i do i cannot get the quality you got for spidey2. If i do tweak settings(i.e bitrate) i end up with  good quality but it plays slow/jerky on the phone. I am using divx 5.1.1/ vdub 1.5.1. what am i doing wrong??

You could play with virtualdub yourself, please look at 'filters' and delete the letterbox filter.

I have 192kb/s @ 24fps DivX on my Mpx200 now!! Works great and it's pushing my phone to its limit :D
