I have been contacted by Agile Mobile to ask if MoDaCo members would be willing to help beta test a new version of Agile Messenger, of course I said yes ;-)

Those interested should visit this page to join the beta.

Agile Messenger 2.0 beta is available for both Microsoft Smartphone and PocketPC devices,

Agile Mobile tell me that this version connects directly to the IM networks and also has many other improvements.

Not tried Agile Messenger yet? Still using the internal Messenger client? Then I urge you to check this app out, it rocks ;-)

I agree peekie, it's quick.

Plus the text is smaller and thus much more readable than MSN. I normally have so do some serious scrolling since a lot of my contacts have long usernames!

Nice.

aight, just downloaded and installed it... works like a charme on my SPV 1.6.3 NL on the Orange network...

Jabber supported... it would be kewl if they would included irc aswell

(how does this idea works, support irc but only messages so no channel support)

Will be running the program 24/7 let you know how it goes....

TNX !!!

* rotating icons while connecting ;-p

* nice logoff before exit

There is no need to manually un-install first.

The Agile software takes perfekt care of this...

I cant get this to connect to MSN using my O2 Payg sim card. I cant with MSN Messenger either. I can connect when I put my orange pagy sim card back in my phone so its obviously a problem with the network. I dont have any problems connecting to the internet on o2 but I dont seem to be able to access my orange email. I dont know if that makes a difference. But PLEASE try and make this program work with o2 because I really want to use it.

Excellent stuff! I'm tempted to nuke iMov immediatly except for one thing:

All my ICQ contacts show up as their ICQ numbers instead of their names and there's no (apparent) way to change that. Did a search but couldn't find anyone else with this problem. Is it new to this version? (Never used Agile before) Has anyone else seen this? And most importantly, is there a fix / workaround that anyone knows of?

AM-SP-11 is the internal version number which is used for auto-updates. The 11 is the latest version, it will come out as version 2.0 in the release.

Ravis: Agile Messenger downloads the contactlist from the ICQ server. It seems that your contactlist has ICQ numbers in place of people's nicknames.

Try logging in using an official ICQ client, I think it will fetch the correct nicknames and update the server-stored contact list.

Excellent! Didn't download my names tho, Trillian must have screwed up when it upgraded my list to server-side. So 30 minutes of renaming contacts later and iMov is out the door! :-D

Thanks man!

Any plans to implement some kind of logging? My personal preference would be the same method trillian uses - a seperate text file for each contact that simply gets appended to when new messages are sent/received with a preference for what directory you want them stored in. Would be very useful for me at least. :-)

umm are you sure your http://smartphone.MoDaCo.com/viewtopic.php?t=4861>GPRS settings ?? i made a quick websitw about this...

www.o2-spv.vze.com

Yeah all my settings worked fine and were set up exactly as they say in the GPRS settings repository. I was able to download o2 email and view web pages. Only thing I hadn't done was delete the old Orange GPRS settings. So I did that as well as deleting my current o2 settings and followed the step-by-step instructions on your site. But now I have a fully non working O2 SPV. Can no longer access email, view web pages and definately cannot connect to messenger. You also dont mention anything about MMS settings or 'Dial up connection' settings. Is this intentional?

New version (dare I mention this) Symbian/Nokia N-Gage version works a lot better.

Sign in is much quicker, and MORE IMPORTANTLY to you lot at Agile, it now allows for an mRouter pass thru to work.

For us Smartphone types, that's a bit like using it through ActiveSync, and thus not actually requiring a dial up or GPRS connection at all.

As with the last version, it worked very strange using a Bluetooth Pass Through on the N-Gage. It WOULD let you sign in, and SOMETIMES showed you who was online (this relatess to MSN Messenger), but it would not accept messages sent from people on the list - they were informed the message had been sent, but nothing ever arrived on the phone. And these messages went into a Black Hole, as when the user logged back in on a real Messenger client, its not as if they were waiting for them.

That all said and done, my girlfriend still can't sign into Messenger, but I suspect that this is more a Messenger issue, or maybe becuase her contact list is full.

But ICQ works like a charm for her now.

So definately an improvement guys.

Agile dont seem to retrive the "friendly name" of an MSN concact added while using Agile, all contacts added prior to agile has that name instead of the email address. Anyone else see this problem?

Also, agile tells me i have a new message from a specific user everytime i start agile. same message every time

Feels like agile tries to remember messages i haven read, but ..... i have read it, again and again

Does anyone else have any ideas why Messenger wont work on an O2 PAYG sim card? I really want to get it working so I can start using my 300 free WAP minutes.

So Svp-Kid... Have you actually managed to get Agile Messenger or MSN Messenger working on an O2 PAYG sim card? Or were you just wondering whether I had entered the O2 GPRS settings into my phone?
