I was looking for a post of someone who soldered a pair of koss ear buds to the stereo headphones. I know I saw it here somewhere and there were pictures of how to do it, does anyone know where to find it? I have done a search on everything I can think of and went through 13 pages of posts on the mpx200 with out finding anything. PLEASE HELP!

did you try to make the headphones yet? I actually bought a pair of new sony ear buds, they sound better than the Koss! They cost more about 40.00 but well worth it. I'm trying to see if I can cut the left speaker wire and insert the mic from old headset, not sure if that will work.

It will not work, because you need the wires for the mic and the 2,5 connector Stereo plus Mic. So you need the original Moto headset and can cut off the ear buds and put in the Sony once. Not shure if it's worth.

No you can use 3.5mm headphones with a converter, I am currently using sony sound plugs and they work fine. I want to be able to turn the stereo headphones into a headset as well by splicing the mic from motorola stereo headphones into the left side of the sony stereo headphones but he is saying that it won't work.

your best bet is to cut the ear buds off of the original moto stereo headset and solder in the sony ones...dont try to put the mic from the moto on the sony wires...too much hassles and trouble...follow mpx200.org instructions...they work pretty well.

the problem is that I can't do that since my dog got ahold of the motorola headset and pretty much wrecked them. I then cut the plug off and made my own 2.5 to 3.5 converter out of it, since the cord was shot and the earplugs are junk. The mic is fine though so I thought since the mic is only a positive and a negative wire I thought it would be possible to wire in the mic by using the same technique that is in the koss ear bud splicing. Since I am using the motorola 2.5mm plug would it not work the same?

PS. I have a 2.5mm to 3.5mm that worked with the SPV and I have tried it in the moto. If pushed in correctly it doesn't work! I have to pull the connector out of the phone slightly in order to get audio in both ears. Not sure if this is stereo tho'.

The problem with that connector is the mic is down next to the phone, not doing me anygood if the phone is on my hip when listening to mp3's! The connecting a mic won't work either since the new Sony ear buds don't have the 3rd wire that must be used for the mic (only from the mic to the connector). I guess the only option is to buy the new set of motorola headphones and cut the ear pieces off and go that route!

the spv adaptor doesn't work with the moto because the tip and ring1 are the other way round, or something like that, from the testing i have done (looking on xda-developers.com and playing ) is that the mic on the spv headset is left ear on the motorola.

if anyone with more of a clue what they are doing with a soldering iron and multimeter wants to investigate further please do

later

What I did is went to Radio Shack and got the stereo to stereo 2.5 to 3.5 converter and pulled the 2.5 plug out of the end of the converter and pulled the 2.5 mic out of the moto plug (beersoft is right the radio shack converter you have to pull out a click for it to work!) Solder the wires to the bottom of the plug and the side of the plug(once you pull out you will be able to tell where you connect again) and put back into converter, works like a charm!
