I have been doing a bit of chasing. It's no secret on this forum that the E200 has been lacking a full car kit. The last effort wasn't of great quality and didn't have a radio mute function and was made by "e-lead" for HTC. Orange going to change this in partnership with ORA by developing a Full car kit for this and other phones. The kit will have a cradle to hold the E200 and the cradles are interchangeable. There will be a XDA2 cradle adapter at launch as well. The new kit is a new design and is promised to use the 14 years of experience ORA has in the industry in regard to quality. There will be a radio mute output although this will not include ISO radio cabling, so there is a option at install to link it into the radio. Orange are due to have the first units in approx 2 weeks time.

Lets hope it's worth the wait! :)

Glad to see they have got off thier arses and are developing a kit that has been long over due.

Have to say I am dissapointed they will not being releasing an ISO harness which would use the standard speakers for the kit.

I would think the Nokia ISO harness will fit ( it's what going to use ). Most installers should have them. It a four wire fit. Most cars nowdays have the radio mute input into the back of the radio. Some cars such as Audi etc have external amps and use the iso output as low level output to the amp, in this case the iso is useless and you have to wire direct to the radio, The car OEM usually will have allowed for this and provided a radio mute and or power connection. This situation is becoming more common as consumers demand better in car systems. Your right though it would have been nice to have the option! Best wait and see whats in the box :)

yeah wiring one up won't be too hard. Even easier the fact a good friend is a car audio dealer who deals with handfree kits every week :)

Just had a reply from ORA, they state...

I just called ORA this morning, spoke to Sales, who advise they are NOT releasing a Full Installed Pro Car Kit, but are offering a Cigarette Lighter Car Kit for the E200.

Explained to them that I was under the impression that one was coming out, and they replied "this is untrue".

Yet another reason for me to not move to the E200 (as well as lack of Bluetooth support and lack of sound and voice quality).

This is very strange, I emailed ORA the other day asking where the full car kit was. In a previous email they stated end April, this time they are saying it has been delayed until July. So is there to be a kit or not?

I cannot understand why Orange feel that they can release a phone and not deliver a car kit for almost a year afterwards, especially with the curent UK laws. I know there are bluetooth alternatives but i much prefer the fully fitted cradle etc, and no earpeice. It's what almost every other high end phone manufactures provide, and what I'm used to (Nokia)

ORA's response...

Hello

The car kit has been delayed and will now be available in July

I am sure there are other hard wired bluetooth kits but thats the thing, i don't want to have to go into the menu every time, turn on bluetooth, turn it off when i get out, fotget one time and then realise I have no battery. I want something where i can just put the phone into the cradle and then job done - hands free kit that mutes my stereo when call comes in.

In all honesty if a kit does not come out soon I can see me going back to the Nokias, they might not have the same gizmos but at least you can get decent accessories for them

When I bought my phone in December, Ora told me FEB.

I sold my phone on e-bay yesterday as I had enough.

However much I argued with Orange, they would not let me off the £100 - in contract- upgrade fee.

I was using a BT200 hands free whcih was unreliable. I then purchased a Parrot plug in kit, which was very reliable. the problem is, that it did not charge the unit, and therfore I had to have a four way adaptor 1 for the parrot, one for the charger, and one for the satnav.

Roll on my Nokia 6600. It is not as functional, but everyone loved Nokia.....

Good luck all.

Well it came from Ora sales They told me the name of the company developing the kit ( forgotten it  I did a search and never found them? ) Anyway.. I must admit they gave the impression the last time i spoke to them it was bluetooth BUT when i spoke to Ora Trade sales they told me 1 month beforehand I deffo had a cradle and charged the phone (which is the main reason we need a kit apart from the handsfree bit..)

Both times i have been told it is a fitted kit.. I wonder if there is 2 kits. One for the Trade installers a full kit and a DIY plug and go B/T one? Who knows??? I might ring up again 2morro..

What annoys me is slipping timescales.. I'm stuck... do i go for the New Parrot kit or wait for the Ora effort? I have 3 to buy so i need to get it 100% right.. Sod's law is i go for the Parrot only to find the Ora one pops along...

 I'm getting right chuffed off with the whole thing and Orange has no direction on a phone which they brand as their own. :D

Furthermore what i posted at the start of this post was word for word what the guy in the Trade section of Ora told me. He did know what he was on about. I have spoken to the normal sales and they aren't as clued up on it..

Just seen the news page on the release of a full car kit, not from ORA, could this be the answer, or should I wait for the ORA kit. What we need is for someone to buy and try! Be interested to see what ORA have to say
