Anyone knows if the SPV E200 supports Bluetooth Class I.?Thats the 100 meter range Class of bluetooth. The normal bluetooth Class II is 10 Meter. 2. When will the drivers be available for Wifi SD Cards??? 3. Is there a way to remove the orange logo on the front right above the screen on the phone without damaging it to much? Guest SimFan Posted June 6, 2004 Report Share Posted June 6, 2004 I don't know either. The only thing I am sure of is that it does work (outside the house) to at least 50m. This is a fact. If I check the BT signal strength when distance > 5m, it is weak (almost bare minimum) but it keeps on working much further. Both incoming and outgoing signals work. (It is also quite big compared to some very small, cheap BT sticks.) Maybe that is an explanation. Don't forget we have a mix here. Also it seems to do the same as yours, from about 5 - 6m away (direct line of site), it displays 2 bar signal strength, yet stays like that for quite some distance. Guest SimFan Posted June 7, 2004 Report Share Posted June 7, 2004 - It seems to me that the BT monitor (PC) simply can't measure/show (because of the scale factor) a very low strength signal. - One thing I do know for sure... mine does NOT work at 100m. It does to around 50m if nothing blocks the signal's way. In that, a BT signal seems to resemble an FM signal (also blocked-reduced by vast amounts of concrete etc.). - Also, walking aroung (causing signal fluctuation) with the E200 sometimes causes signal loss in my case. - Parallel tasks and switching between Browser and Messenger often can/will also cause a problem. So it sure seems to be either Messenger or Browsing the Web. Stopping one before starting the other session (or maybe I am missing something). I know its not the headset thats faulty as I have tested it witha P800. Also there is a post on this forum that says that Orange have admitted to problems with the bluetooth range. Guest ajb3000 Posted June 7, 2004 Report Share Posted June 7, 2004 With my Plantronic M3000 headset (a class II 10m device), I can only get a clear audio signal up to 4 - 5 metres away (direct line of sight). I also noticed that it cannot go through flesh very well at all, for example, holding my phone on the other side of my body to the headset caused interference. Guest SimFan Posted June 8, 2004 Report Share Posted June 8, 2004 FWIW... the Sitecom BT USB dongle was installed on WinXP SP1 and Win Me (laptop) without any problem. I was expecting some problems and was surprised how easy installation and configuration went. Maybe I got lucky. Therefore we can assume that the headset mode has been set to use less power than the other modes hence the short range. Maybe they set the power a smidgen too low causing all these problems.
