Guest eortega Posted June 16, 2004 Report Share Posted June 16, 2004 Greetings earthmen, That is right, Over the last 3 months I've been working on a full emulator for my beloved SMS/GG. Finally I have a beta version, and well, I need five (5) brave die hard fans in order to test it. Well, how to start... first, this was made from scratch, as I did not found any GNU/Open Source version to port, then I decided to take my chance and develop the whole thing on my own. Since this is just my first try, then there are some limitations: 1. The sound chip wasn´t emulated, 2. The only ROMS recognized are the ones with the US/Europe setting, no Japanese roms, 3. Only NTSC is supported. I'm planning to support all of above in a future release, depending on the support I've receive from you guys. I used to live in the UK (willing to go back :D ) and from my time there I own a SPV classic, which is the only platform I've been able to test it. In my country local market we don´t have SmartPhones at all, so the people interesed on testing the software will have to have different versions of the SmartPhone and also availability of Roms to test it (at least 15-20 would be nice) Remember all the legal stuff, I can´t provide any roms and you have to have permision to use your own roms, trading roms is illegal and blah, blah, blah. The emulator work just fine in the Pocket PC too, as I use the gx.dll library, so it is actually platform independent. Now the difficult part: The people that actually helps me to test it will receive a full version of the software, unfortunatelly I can't release this as Open Source; I´m planning to charge a one time fee around USD$7 for license and any future update and/or version, although a trial version will be available... I know what are you thinking, that I'm only a one-eyed green alien with fiery tooth that wants to take over the earth and also wants now your money, but actually, I'm just a poor colombian with a family to feed, and hoping you understand the effort I put on this project :wink: Waiting for your comments guys, and hoping you can have fun!
