I am trying to sim unlock. I have been given an unlock code but don't know how to enter it as once I put the different sim card in the phone it comes up with a screen "Network PUK" and wants an unblock code followed by a new password. I am new at this game a really haven't got a clue as I don't want to break the phone. Any assistance would be great.

You should not have PUK code displayed this is normally the code used after a phone has been locked, PUK codes normally

come from your network provider.

To unlock your phone, power off and put the SIM from another network in then power on. The phone will ask for the SIM unlock code, when it does you have to put the code you have been given into the phone.

I have done this but it just comes up with the Network PUK screen. I have keyed the code supplied by my network supplier and followed up with 00000000 as the new password. I then get the SIM failure screen which says "the action you are attempting is not supported by this SIM" I have not has a sim unlock code screen. Is there something I am doing wrong or is there something else I should do? Thanks

Put the code in the phone with the original SIM in it.

Once this has been done correctly and the phone is not asking for a puk code, then swap SIMs and try to SIM unlock.

I put original Orange PAYG sim in and it opens OK. Doesn't ask for any codes and I can use the phone as normal. When I put wrong sim in (Vodafone contract) I get the same screens asking for Network PUK. This is doing my head in.

Does the Vodafone contract sim work ok in another phone? The PUK code is normally sim associated as opposed to phone associated.

The number I have been given does not work. I sent the phone to the guys who sent me the code and they could not do it and refunded me my payment. I guess I need to unlock it my connecting it to my PC. I have logged onto a site which requires me to run Motounlock.exe but do not know how to run this. Can anyone give me an idiots guide to running this please.

If you require a PUK code you need to call your network and

request the code from them.

Okay, here is my confusion in total- I bought an MPX 200 from a guy who doesn't know if the phone is locked, and doesn't know what the previous carrier was, and doesn't have the SIM card for it. However, at the bottom of the phone's case, there is the all too familiar ATnT logo, so I'm sure at some point that this was an ATnT phone.

When I got the phone, I tried to put in a SIM card from a non-ATnT service provider(cincinnati bell - which happens to use ATnTs towers) - by the way, at the time, that Cincinnati bell SIM card was newly purchased, and had not even been activated yet- So anyway, when I put in the cincinnati bell SIM card, it said something like "this phone does not accept SIM cards from non compatible service providers or is locked - Enter unlock code" So, I assumed that the phone might be locked.

I took the phone to a nearby generic wireless store to get it unlocked because they said they could unlock any phone. Prior to trying to unlock the phone, the guy at the store put an ATnT SIM card in it, and for the first time ever, I saw the phone go past the startup screen and not ask for an unlock code. Every other time I had turned on the phone using a non ATnT SIM, it would display the windows 2002 logo, and then "Mobile Operator" (which someone told me means that the phone may have been flashed with a generic ROM), and then the home screen (for about 2 seconds), after which it would revert to the page that asked for an unlock code. Seeing that the phone was atleast able to startup, I was happy, because atleast this seemed like evidence that the phone was still functional. But then the guy at the store pointed out that the phone was showing "No Service" at the top of the screen. I wondered if maybe the service area was bad, so I asked him to take his SIM card out of my phone and to put it in one of his New MPX200s that he was trying to sell to people. When he did that, his phone showed a signal. His conclusion was that my phone had "bad hardware".

He then checked to see if the phone was unlocked by using a "Clip", which I guess is some sort of cable which will flash green when the phone is unlocked. When he did this, the "clip" thing flashed green, and he told me that the phone had been unlocked even before I had brought it to his store. He said that he couldn't understand why he couldn't get any of his SIM cards to work with my phone though (He tried TMobile and CinciBell also). He said he thought the phone was broken. I hoped that it wasn't.

Later, I went home and decided to try to look up some info on the motorolla website- the site mentioned something about entering 0000 or 1234, as unlock codes. I tried 0000 and nothing happened, but after I tried 1234, the text prompt switched, and instead, started saying:

"Network PUK - ...Enter unBlock code ________ Enter new Password_________ Reenter new password________"

I tried entering 1234 and 000000 a few times. I called ATnT and they said that A PUK code is specific to each SIM card. With this info at hand, I decided to go bother an authorized Cincinnati bell store to see if they could switch my formerly TDMA service to GSM (because they offer both services). They gave me two PUK codes (PUK1 and PUK2) so that I could try entering them into the phone. Actually, the lady ended up giving me a totally new SIM card because she said I probably had fried my previous one by guessing the code too many times. So, with PUK1 code in hand, I entered it into the phone, and then entered a string of 5 zeros for the new password (I just guessed ofcourse-i don't know if the password should have been looked up or what not) and ofcourse, once again, the phone didn't budge. I just stayed on that same screen. I then tried entering PUK code 2 and the same thing happened. The lady at the store then took out my SIM card and put it in her Nokia phone, and it worked fine. So the SIM card seemed to be working. She kept telling me that the phone was locked, and eventually I just left, confused once again.

So now, I don't know if the phone is locked, unlocked, or broken, or if the SIM card PUK codes are not being entered properly, etc...Any suggestions?

From what you are saying the phone is still SIM locked as the AT&T

SIM worked but yours did not.

The best bet is to contact the guys at www.imei-check.co.uk they

should be able to sort out and unlock your phone for you.
