I read on this sites review of the C500 that it has some issues when playing games. Can someone confirm that the issues are when playing Java games? (am new to smartphones and not sure what other types of games are out there for smartphones)

I do realise that the C500 is not supposed to be a gaming device, but is there anyone about who can fill me in on it's capabilites with the dodgy scroll button thing. How does the phone compare to the likes of the M1000 for game play and video playing.

Thanks

Matt

matt, the issues with games is refering to games specially made for MS smartphone (like how u can get special pocket pc games/applications)...although i havent seen anyone post about it, i doubt this will affect java games...but in anycase, proper MS Smartphone games are much better than java. See Paul's sticky thread about what games are working and what are not, you can then have d/l some trials of the ones that work from places such as handango.com etc, and buy them if you wish.

As for installing java apps, id imagine you get the .jar or .jad, or whatever the files are (im not sure) and put them in a certain directory on your phone...have a hunt for one called java or something, then open up the java thing and search for new apps.

stick them on the root of the sd card, and they should appear in the java app, worked for me anyway, pity java games suck! :)

Any free sites to try a few games?

You might as well save yourself the time. Not only is the new joystick (a very ironic name, as it is not much of a joy to use it) complete useless for movements others than menu navigation; you are restricted to pressing down one key at a time. So forget, jump-fire, or turn-fire and so forth. I did discover while giving a certain nes-emu game with a certain italian plumber number 3 a go, that you can press a number key, then move and both sort of work together, although that probably just means that the directional keypad overrides the numbers.
