Hi all,

I have successfully hard reset my Mio 8390, the point is removing all your card( including SIM Card and SD/MMC Card) before doing hard reset.

Regards,

Thang

I also remove SIM & SD but when holding Volume button (both up and down) + END key, I still go to the loading... and invalid Sim card shows !

Could you please tell me details about which you use keys to hard reset the phone Mio 8390 ?

Thank you

Shun,

I am not so sure, maybe I were lucky. I did many times as described in the operational manual and I got the reset phone at the last time that had only one change compared previous times( all cards were removed). I would like to list some check notes below, if your phone meets these then it could be reset in the same way.

- My phone is HK version( you can check this with calling *#83908390#).

- Make sure your phone is unlocked.

- Follow extractly steps in Restore Factory guidance in Operational Manual.

Let me know if you still can not reset your phone, I can try again to find the bug.

Good luck,

Thang

Thank you Thang,

- My phone is HK version( you can check this with calling *#83908390#):

CE Version: R41i HK

MicoP Version: R16

RF Firmware Version:

R4.0.4 MBE42057-01 P2

- Make sure your phone is unlocked.

I unlocked it through website of MiTAC (ActiveX installed)

- Follow extractly steps in Restore Factory guidance in Operational Manual

I followed all the steps indicated in the manual of Mio but nothing happened. UP or DOWN button + END key, both UP and DOWN buton + END Key, remove all card before do it... . Only my volume button is more and more deeply pushed into the machine !

I had problems with user manual steps too but someone at thsi forum gave me the following steps which worked.....

hard reset, wipes the flash memory and restores the phone to its origional state. to hard reset. Hold down the power button and 'down' button on the d-pad.. the phone should vibrate and go into the bios.

click on memory test (option 4)

the on NAND Format (option 2) and that should hard reset the phone, click on reboot and bingo..good as newsoft reset is a simple reboot of the phone

Thank you and thank you very much for your shares of knowledgebase.

@ Snog66: Oh, MiTAC is a foolish when they wrote another way to the real situation !

@ thangtv: May be you use this combined keys (DOWN + END) but you did not remember.

  • 2 months later...

It's easy to do http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?p=97945#97945>Hard Reset for mio 8390. All you nee is to plug the charger to the phone. But don't plag the charger to the electro line.

Then one hane to hold the volume button, other to press the end (red key) 4 senconds and let go your finger. Wait till the phone vibrates twice and then let go the finger on volume button. That is all done.
